  1. Thanks for the explanation. Jim
  2. I sent Chief a suggestion to allow trailing zeroes. My very first quarter of college in 1986 I had a surveying class. We had to be in the sheep fields at around 7 AM in the morning with the steel tape. I may still be suffering survey trauma.
  3. I tried this, but it updated all the schedules, not just the one. Not sure I understand the feature, but I probably need to ponder this more. Jim
  4. Thanks. Total bummer. Not end of the world though. Thanks! - Jim
  5. Good morning, I'm drawing my CAD property lines and would like to have zero angle minutes displayed. Right now they are suppressed. I can't figure out where the setting might be. Thanks again for any help. Jim
  6. This is certainly not a top priority question, but I was wondering what's going on with the schedule numbering here? Happens with accidental duplicate schedules and everything back to normal when extra schedules are deleted. I was just curious what Chief's numbering logic is here that produces this. Thanks again, Jim
  7. Thanks Joey. That's kind of the way I've been doing it, or as individual chases. I was wondering if there was a method I was overlooking. Dunno. Just working of a supplied plan. Not able to visit site.
  8. Very helpful video! I recently discovered that same layout tool that allows you to repath the .plan files. Up until now -- for about a year -- I had been repathing each layout view manually one by one! Jim
  9. How do you all usually model wall pilasters / bump-outs on a framed wall? Thanks, Jim
  10. Charles, Update -- ran it by my client and he elected to do no step down due to this very reason. Better accessibility. Jim
  11. Excellente' ! Thanks for quick response. Jim
  12. Good morning, I'm modeling some open (floating) shelves in front of a kitchen window. It occurred to me that doing this with a modified wall cabinet might be a good solution as it conveniently treats the shelves as one unit. So far good results, but how do I get rid of the front vestigial verticals (circled)? Could not find option in dialog box. Thanks again, Jim
  13. I gave that a try, but unsuccessful. That setting appears to be global and when unchecked, the plotter reverts to the system default, in my case Microsoft XPS. Thanks though, Jim
  14. Curious, is there a setting that links the print paper size to the drawing sheet size? I'm ping-ponging between 2 projects with 2 different sheet sizes. So, I'm having to manually reset the sheet sizes when I plot. I thought it'd be nice if paper size could be "locked" to sheet size such as with a check box. Thanks, Jim
  15. If you go to Construction Specifier online magazine and search keyword "polished", there are a number of articles on the topic. Jim
  16. As of today I am now a witness to this rare beast. Very weird! I also described it in another forum post today. Sounds exactly like what you described above. It's as if I selected and deleted all the room labels en masse, but I did not do that best to my knowledge. This has happened multiple times on a project I'm working on today. Jim
  17. I dunno. I don't think so. This would mean deleting the labels en masse, right? I've never used this tool, so I don't think it was that. Thanks for pointing me to this thread. That's exactly it. I'm inclined to think of this as a glitch for now. Jim
  18. Today's weird issue that's baffled me... My room labels keep getting turned off whole floors / levels: It's not a layer thing as the layer is on: But, the label gets turned off for all the rooms. I'll go and reselect "show room label" on the rooms and sure enough, an hour later they're gone. Anybody have insight into this mystery? Am I inadvertently hitting a hot key or something? Thanks again, Jim
  19. BTW, there are 2 drinking fountains in the "Medical / Dental" specialty items library. This library costs $19.99 to purchase at Chief. Unclear to me if these items are different from the free versions. It's been a while since I did an accessible drinking fountain. I believe what makes it accessible is mounting height, clearances and controls. (The one shown below has a push bar) I'd suggest reviewing an ADA model by a manufacturer like Elkay and then finding the closest match in the library. Place and position to comply with accessibility requirements. Jim
  20. Doug, I'm more of a beginner, but first thought is you could add a suffix to a new door number such as "A" or ".1" to "sandwich" between existing scheduled door numbers. For example 25A to add new door between existing doors 25 and 26. Inelegant, but might be a quick workaround. Jim
  21. Apologies! I just turned on my workstation and started my coffee, so brain a little hazy. I gave you an upvote though. Thanks for answering my "exploding symbols" question. Appreciate it. Jim
  22. Thanks for all the input. Eric (Solver) was nice enough to do a small tutorial video on this for me. I got it to work. My first Chief custom symbol! I did have a quick question: In Chief, once a symbol becomes a symbol, it seems there is no way to "explode" it back to it's original 3D solid parts so that you can modify. Is this true? Jim
  23. Yes, that's the one I'm using.
