  4. You don't get Stem walls to play with IF you built a Monolithic Slab when you built the foundation as far as I know , so I'd say you used a Stem wall foundation by accident.
  5. did you see post no#4 ? Brick ledge perhaps?
  6. Looks to me like you built it with a Stem wall foundation with 16" footing and 8" wall not a Slab

  12. My Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman (trackball) has 8 programmable buttons and is probably 8 years old at least , I also have a number of their 4 button Marble Mouse (Trackball) but they are simple 4 button mice with no scroll wheel etc which is why I have the Trackman , wheel is great for zooming in chief.
  13. "Show same wall types Handles" does , but don't think the RC - drag does either...
  14. in 3D views the mouse controls are used depending on how the Rotation is set in 3D>move camera with mouse> Orbit/Pan/Dolly etc. the next option lets you do the same for the keyboard arrow keys.
  15. Chief or HD Pro don't do engineering Calcs as they are usually ,by code done by Engineers in most places. However even Home Designer Pro (and Chief) can do Pole Barns and other such structures easily , there are even tutorials on how to do it..... http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00598/ http://www.chiefarchitect.com/search/?q=pole+barn&default_tab=all&site=chief_architect&client=chief_architect&restrict=ChiefArchitect&proxystylesheet=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.chiefarchitect.com%2Fsearch%2Fchiefsearch_stylesheet.xslt&output=xml_no_dtd&submit.x=14&submit.y=12even http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01081/
  16. Save to PDF is native in X6 In X5 go to the Help Menu and there should be an option to download PDF Print Driver , I use PDF995 which works well and is Free ,but has a splash screen for 5 secs? when you print, Stay away from CutePDF , it adds other programs to your computer too such as Comodo Dragon , a web Browser. M.
  17. I found with both videos I had to maximise the browser , then maximise the video window , the chaptered video does revert to normal size at the end of each chapter though needing re-maximising. Use IE10 on PC anyway.
  18. upper and lower walls aligned ? did you try manually pulling the upper wall down into the lower and see if it merged properly ? M.
  19. if you follow the link ScottHarris left you, you will find the free Trial version Videos including the 1 hour long Overview video and 10 others ,but you are right not sure why ridge caps is in there.... but here it is: Overview http://video.chiefarchitect.com/?playlist=39 For the "Lessons".... you use the UserGuide (PDF) under the Help Menu>View User Guide Get the reference Manual that way too.... a fuller version of the Online help.... and all the Chief tutorials/FAQ are here http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/database.html Chief has its Own Youtube Channel , along with many videos there is also the Vids from al the Webinars (free online lessons held each Wed. I think) and there is this site m that some of the guys here have setup too http://www.chieftutor.com/chiefx1.html Terry Munson has written some good guides available here too http://www.munsonhomedesign.com/ Note that MOST of the Answers here are from End users just like you , it is a complex Program and is going to take dedicated reading of the help and manuals and watching videos and asking questions here if stumped , Chief aint an Ipad App you are gonna learn in a day or even a week.
  20. if you have no experience with CA even the HD Pro Videos will help probably and can be accessed for free http://video.homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/

  22. I'd never thought of using an Arch till recently either then saw a tip on using the Dogear Arch ( no google doesn't know what it is either ) which can work for this or for Diamond shaped Windows by checking the "reflect vertically" box (sills and lintels must be off for Diamond windows though.)
  23. @Jon I had a quick look at Masonry Designer and getting a Soldier Course is easy however I couldn't figure out how to make the outer rows lean out like in the PDF or is that something you have to do in Chief with the Texture? gotta think the Brickie wont be happy with no keystone to set the angle , he just slowly leans them over ? with a widen mortar joint at the top?
