I've submitted this to Chief directly, but one tool I'd like to see in X17 is the lasso tool. In this specific example a way to grab specific items that may be on a diagonal while not grabbing everything that gets included with box grab. For example - I have a home where the office is on a diagonal to the rest of the home and the client wants to see the furniture (that is not blocked together) at a different angle. Grabbing it by holding the shift key only allows for box selection which would grab everything the box. The lasso tool - much like the lasso tool we have for material lists would allow us to be specific with what we grab.

I think the way I @DBCooperdoes it is similar to how I do. I use the box region and mark them 'flat interior' in the areas I need the terrain to slope. For example, the box at the front door of a home might be 0" elevations (flat interior) but the back of the home is a walk-out basement; that box might be -96" (flat interior)

Like @DBCooperstated. Yes, you can start and stop your subscription as you see fit. Opening and saving a file in X16 for example will make that file inaccessible to anything X15 and older (including X12)... additionally anything you draw in a newer version can't be access if you don't have an active subscription. Meaning, if you upgrade to X16 and use it for a year under an active subscription, then cancel - your can no longer open X16 or any files associated with it.

Thanks Ben, what I was able to do was tell the walls around the fireplace to be 'no room locate'. This then allowed me to pull the tray up against the fireplace to get the look I was hoping for. It's a work around - be it not really correct, but it shows up the way I need it to. Your support team is going to share this with the developers. Hoping for a nice fix in the future Thanks!

@ChiefArchitect- I've already submitted this feedback to you with Tech support. I think we can all agree that the soffit function in Chief isn't cutting it anymore. It is too limited with it's shaping (rectangles only) and does not provide framing. Tray ceilings however allow us to create framed objects inside the room and also give us the option for two different finishes (face and bottom). Personally, I need the soffit function to mimic the tray function - or; the tray function needs some work. For example - if we need a tray around the room, but there is a fireplace that sits flush with a portion of the trays face (Arrow in photo) - we need to be able to 'void' this area stopping the tray from building any framing and from getting 'confused' and voiding the entire build altogether. Something like the molding feature where we can break the molding and tell it not have molding on that particular portion.

When doing a PBR; Check your Daytime Backdrop intensity. For interiors I change mine to 500, but for exterior views you may want to go with 35,000 - 40,000

Grant from customer service agreed this is an change in X16 and he now sees why it is an issue. I wonder how long they had discussions about it before they removed it. He's going to add a request to have the change 'undone'. It's clear its necessary for proper display and control. For now I'm doing the 0" material to get the double line to show up as I need it to

Looks like an image file tree. Do you have it set to 'rotate with camera'? If it's check or unchecked maybe try the opposite.

Update. In order to get the same look I've had to add a 0" layer. Not ideal, but it works

Hey experts. In X15 when I wanted to show that I was removing the drywall from a 2x interior wall, I would use a predefined wall called '2x4 interior (Demo Finish - one sided). We had it depicted as a double dashed line. It worked perfectly and allows my team to know that we were only removing the dashed portion of the wall (the drywall on one side) I noticed today that in X16, the final 'interior layer' is missing which is causing my wall to no longer have a double dashed line to depict the drywall thickness that's being removed. I've asked Chief if there is a work around, but I'm curious if you guys know of one. Thanks!

I personally don't know much about NKBA; so I'm a bit on the outside looking in. I'll meet with the Kit. and bath people again to make sure I'm understanding what they need.

I've reached out to Chief about this, but I'm curious if the experts have found a solution. Some of my Kitchen and bath designers need the NKBA legacy dimensioning to work a bit better. Currently when you select auto dimension NKBA legacy it dimensions all the cabinets and puts them in one string (both upper and lower cabinets). My team tells me they'd like to see it where the Auto dimensioning works like the elevations do, where the upper cabinets have their own string and the lower cabinets have their own string. What Chief currently does: What I need it to do: I haven't been able to find an option for this in the settings. Is there a solution out there, besides doing them manually?

Looks great! I need to do more with adjusting the color and hue of lighting to get enhance the moods. Nicely done.

@ChiefArchitectknows about the issue. One of our team members recently complained about it too so I reached out to Chief. They said it's a known issue that their engineers are working on.

I would assume this is a wall and probably draw it that way, however you could do it in a number of ways. One I didn't see yet was using poly molding for the entire post. You can build it all together similar to what @VHamptondescribed but taking it a little further with the molding and eliminating the poly solid.

Not the way you are suggesting. The dimensions you are seeing are called 'temporary dimensions'. You'll need to draw your own or select 'auto dimensions' in order for the dimensions to stay.

@Bench1705mark Your items are 3D molding polylines, and are on a 'locked' layer. Unlock the layer then delete the 3D polylines or move them to where they should be.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you have a few items in a template you'd like to create a standard for? Firstly you could save your plan file as your template, so when you hit 'new plan' it automatically loads up your template. Save As template, I believe, will also ask if you'd like to make it your default. If not you can adjust this in your preferences. Edit>Preferences>General>New Plans Second If you have a plan that holds all your CAD details, why not block them together, then 'add to library'. You can create a subfolder in your 'custom user catalog' to house them, meaning they will be available to you without you having to first open your 'CAD detail plan file' each time. I hope I answered your question correctly.

I literally just described "Sticky Mode" - But is there a hot button key for this?

I've reached out to @ChiefArchitectabout this, but I'm eager for your input or guidance. I personally would love a way to copy an object and paste it in my plan multiple times without having to copy the object again or repeated hot key entries. For example. I know you can press CTRL+V to paste and object and I can hold CTRL and press press V click your mouse to place the object and while continuing to hold CTRL I can press V again to allow for another paste, however. What if Chief made it possible for me to hold press CTRL+V together and while holding both keys down allow me to click with my mouse over and over and over again pasting with each click until I let go of the hot keys. Some of my designers use room tags to eliminate the need for notes on their plans. Allowing me to copy a tag and multiple copy it into all the room on a floor for example by just clicking in those rooms while holding CTRL+V would make things a lot easier.

You can also achieve this by turning the railing for the stairs off, then drawing in your railings custom using the railing tool (turn on option to follow stairs) This was drawn with one set of stairs, and four railings.

I was using ScreenPal formally Screen-o-matic. It's the strange thing. I don't have any issues normally but since I tried recording a video while running Chief architect my fans react quicker and louder. I ended up deleting the app and using windows snipping tool to record my screen (works very much the same) and the fans do come on, but not at super speeds like Screenpal and I was able to record a 30 min video without my pc crashing. Temps all stayed low too and by CPU was running in overclock (not forced). All systems seem to be working fine NOT using Screenpal. All the issues came about after a recent update to Screenpal. They are unsure what would be causing the issues, but acknowledge that it does use CPU an GPU resources.

Gotcha. Is it possible for a power supply to fail? I've had this PC for about 2.5 years with zero issues thus far, but did have to change out the water cooler a few month back. I've been told I may want to see if the thermal paste is failing/ needs reapplied. I'm a noob when it comes to PC builds.
