  1. Chief has never really published any docs on how to speed up Chief's performance other than RayTracing uses the CPU. Is more memory good? How much? Why? Why not? Clock speed is better? Probably but Chief never really said so. Cores? No one really knows, but those who know computers guess, which we all appreciate so there's no really no way to know what will get you what kind of performance gains with Chief. I've got an old but decent computer that will slow to a crawl with a large model? Upgraded both CPU's. No change. Upgraded the Graphics card. No change. Gave up spending money because there was simply no definitive place to look. Sure I could add drives and then more mem and hope for the best but it can be a crap shoot. Of course there are experts here that will give good advice that should not be ignored and you will probably get real close to Chief's best performance but there's never any good reason not to equip your computer with the best and fastest components you can afford....
  2. Always appreciate your videos but personally would much rather watch your interpretation of Chief's video than Chief's video and your video above shows the process for one plan view but seems to stop short of showing the set up of the second plan view. Perhaps you think we might be bored or that it's redundant somehow? Dunno, but again personally I would like to see how you create the entire 2 plan view set and how they work with defaults, in your own words and techniques which again I find very valuable and perhaps more valuable than Chief's videos. In other words please "go in to depth" as your time and energy allows.. Thank you again... and a very small aside that you may ignore if you choose, the intro/outro noise may not add anything to your videos - just sayin'
  3. and another - great tips everyone much appreciated..
  4. Yeah illustrated that in the video above but maybe not that much help...??
  5. Each Plan View needs a unique Layer Set or they will simply show the changes made to their shared Layer Set. Did you create a new, unique, Layer Set for each Plan View with the items you want to display? Or does each Foundation Plan View share the same Layer set? If the latter is true you will see the behavior you are seeing... Create a new Layer Set for each Plan View and see if the helps... Also I believe you could create unique wall types to displayed/not display pony wall views in each Layer Set associated with each Plan View. Either way without a unique Layer Set (and perhaps a unique wall type) there's no chance of achieving what you're after... Steve can you post that plan please?
  6. Try drawing a completely enclosed bearing line area, then draw some more and hope for the best....
  7. ...yes hatch fills are easy, it's the other common fills that are now in an inconvenient library location instead of the more convenient drop down box. Oh well...
  8. A small step backwards in usability IMO... The fills you use every day are now a couple clicks away in the library and the fills you never use are conveniently located in the drop down box? Weird...
  9. NICE!! Did not know how that worked but solved it er...Solver The video I watched today showed the 2 planes for the single axis but obviously just one plane will do the trick. Thanks again Eric.
  10. Is it not reasonable to expect both those stretch zones to behave the same?
  11. ..and the file with that little symbol is 7 or 8 times larger than my typical template plan...hmmm Then I closed the file re-opened it and it's back down to size?? Weird? X11_symbol_stretch.plan
  12. The new symbol creation tool is very cool and allows for any shape to be turned in to a symbol but the stretch plane tools don't seem to be consistent? Has anyone tried the tools? Do the stretch planes behave as expected? EDIT: Solution is a few posts down not a bug, user error, surprise? Here's the tool in action. Here's what I think is a bug? EDIT: Not a bug - user error...
  13. Yes, correct Glenn, not sure what I was doing that was not retaining those windows. Tried a few times and the windows were not retained then they were, only coincidentally after I changed those prefs but I think, as you wrote, it wasn't what changed the behavior. I think bone head user error actually caused and fixed the issue...
  14. Thanks Joe, I was not getting the Project Browser, docked ALDO Windows to remain in the template. Looks like my prefs were not set up correctly. Thanks again for your help...
  15. Been using Templates for 20 years and are 'excellent as you've suggested. Was curious about the Views, thought they were retained but I guess not...
  16. Open a New Plan>Go to 'View' and open the Project Browser. Save the plan as a Template. Open the new Template and the Project Browser does not show up.
