In the attached image, I'm attempted to create a shed that will be built between the existing house and the block wall.  I've drawn 2 gable walls and then created a manual roof plane to create the sloping shed top.  The goal is to extend the roof to rest upon a small section of framing that would rest upon the top of the block wall so the siding would be flush with the exterior side of the block.

I've tried creating a pony wall, but that places the framed wall below the block wall.  I can't seem to define the block wall parameters (it's actually a fence with panels and posts) such that the framed portion is on top and integrated with the shed.  The pony wall option only allows me to select a wall type.  Is there a way to accomplish this?

Sounds like a lot of fuss for this very simple structure.

100% Automatic including framing with the exception of manually adding the pilasters with get this the "post tool".

Thank you for your answer !   According to my understanding, the 0.9 cu m comes from: 9 * 0.1 = 0.9 cu m, as the floor structure is 100 mm thick. With the real room size that should be 11.25*0.1 = 1.125 cu m. So I think if I could get CA to using the correct room size, the value in the count row would be correct as well.

Post the plan as it is most likely something in the plan file or in the wall definition that is causing the issues.  Never seen this before.

  3. So not real sure why you are seeing the 9 m2 in the yellow box at the bottom, but what you are showing in the red box of .9 cu. meters is not the area. It is reporting the amount of subfloor for that room and its set to report to cubic meters in the material definition,  It is not square meters rather cubic meters which is the area x the depth of the subfloor you have set.  Two different values you are looking for.

imported the pdf directly onto the layout page

Most likely this is the case.  Just to add on to Dermot's solution.  When you add a picture or a pdf directly to your layout you cannot reshape the box because it is not a layout box.  If you send to a plan or better yet to a cad detail as Dermot suggests then send it to layout you are able to crop the layout box to exactly how you want it.

  5. 1.) Reset your walls heigth to default top wall height in structures panel of the walls.

    If that doesn't do it...

2.) in plan view go to attic level with attic walls turned on and delete the invisible walls that you have there that are keeping the attic walls from rebuilding.

    If that doesn't do it...

3.) Do it how it would actually be built and select the three walls and on structures panel of the wall dbx select balloon through ceiling above so that it balloon frames those walls AIRL.

    Good day,

Has anyone applied a ramp sink (sloped sink) to any of their Chief designs?

If so, where did you find it from a library if there is one?

    Here are few Undermount photos.

We have a company here in Bend Oregon (Cement Elegance) which manufactures counter and sink as one integrated unit, which is fine.

I happen to be looking in the undermount direction at this time, not the integrated as one.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you - Drew

Need to change from 9.5" joists to 11.875", and the framing is heavily edited and annotated.

What's your preferred way?  I thought I'd lock the framing, ensure autoframing is off, resize the floor frame spec in one of the rooms, copy it everywhere, and then edit the framing for depth.

Better way?  I won't be back on Chief for a bit so thus the question.

If it’s specific to floor framing. Turn off auto frame which if it’s

is probably already done.  Then you can marquis select all of the joists and group open them and change the depth.  Probably best to change it in your defaults in floor structure as well to keep from any issues with elevations etc.

My sincere apologies to the downvoter who was offended by my personal preferences, methods and my lived experience.

I am guessing they must have not liked the proclamation.  I gave you an upvote on this well explained alternative as there is nothing wrong with this method other than many have not found it necessary.  BTW Exact same deck framing for my decks.

I assume Ryan's point was to educate that you can ask the Forum, or you can ask Help. Just searching "Cursor" brings you to that topic.

Yes.  If you search the forum for cursor or icon you will find this has been asked hundreds if not thousands of times.  It is one of the top ten newer user questions I would venture to say.

But I was also helping you out by showing you the help file of what you can search and the answer to your question.  Glad you got it figured out.  Glad @Chopsawwas able to write it out.

That takes up prime vertical space for filter results and folder panels. The toolbar is too high and the filter "search" panel is at least twice as high as the original x14 search.

Sorry I don't think we are on the same page.  What I was trying to show was that if you drag to the bottom it will be horizontal instead of vertical so you will have that extra space to see your preview.

The ability to turn off the library toolbar would help. It would free up some of that space. All of the options can be found by right clicking in the library windows, top drop down menus, or in the preferences anyway and once set, I hardly use them again. Right now, I have it next to the filter results so it keeps that area larger by default. It would also be nice if the zoom factor could be locked in the filter results as well. By default I can only see one or two items at a time. I feel like overall it is slower than the old library search. Perhaps an option for the new system as advanced search mode, old system as default quick search.

If you grab where it has the T and ... you can actually move that to the bottom for example or somewhere else where it gives you the space you need.

You can see that in this shot from one of the previous posts.

    Very common question.

Some searching of the forum first will help many times.

Or better yet F1 key and launch that help file.

do not use deck framing members if you need them in a plan set.

I can see how this would be very frustrating as I customize my deck framing on every plan.  But I have literally done I would say 5-600+ deck plans easy with chief over the years.  Other than UE with not turning off auto framing or checking retain deck framing I have never lost it.  I have when I didn't do that.

I am reworking a plan due to client changes to the roof, and have had to delete all roof planes, roof framing, and build new, plus all affected walls.  The plan has decks at front and rear, with framing that had been meticulously edited.  I have lost it multiple times and cannot recover it, but what could have caused it to delete?  Deck room defs, deck planking all remain, but the framing goes away.

Losing room definition.  Make sure you have retain framing checked.

I'm looking for the single fan or double fan outdoor unit, and maybe for later use, ceiling cassettes and one-way ceiling cassettes.  A floor unit, goes on the wall, but on floor like a radiator, would be good, too.  I'll check the Warehouse.  Thanks.

Is there a way to select multiple symbols in the library and change the layer set for all of them. They would all be changed to the same layer set.

As others have shown to multiselect it has to have similar characteristics.  However are you aware of the layer eyedropper and layer painter tools?  It is quite fast to select an item on the proper layer you want and "paint" the other items albeit one by one but quickly.  Alternative is you can select the layer painter tool directly which will allow you to set the layer you want.  For an example if that layer is turned off in your SPV you are viewing then you can go through and put the items you don't want to see on that layer.  Lots of plans that I see have imported symbols from 3d warehouse and/or made in sketchup on furniture or interior fixture layers for example when they should really be on the electrical layer.  This allows me to go through on a non electrical layer showing view and click off the ones that need to be moved and they will "disappear" as I select them since the electrical layer is turned off and I can make sure I get all of the symbols converted that way.

Chief needs to allow us to choose what room a wall will pull its properties from

That is the direction of the wall.   Ie interior or exterior side of the wall.

seeing how you have already gotten a downvote you may want to refrain from marking your own answer as the correct answer unless it is the chief recommended way.
