interesting. my walls have basically the same settings, i changed my room height for the cant to be 48 to see if something would change, no change, still the 24" roof.
I tried pulling the exterior wall right through instead of just breaking the exterior wall to a bump out, no difference.
...a little stumped
post the plan.

It's probably not a layout box.
Yeah, same concept and would allow the OP to learn more about "Why" those labels are showing up and how powerful they can be for construction documents.
You are correct in this particular case they are probably dragging them directly into the layout and it would be a picture or pdf label.

Hello, I am new to Chief Architect and am working on setting up my layout template. Every time I import an image the name of the image file is also being pulled into the layout page. I do not see a way to delete the text that is being pulled in with the image. I am wondering if anyone else has ever had this issue and knows how to remove the text. Thank you!
Search the help file for "layout box label"

trying to auto do it. doesnt seem to work
In your picture you are placing a manual roof plane...

Do you mean you are trying to use the auto roof feature of the wall setting but use manual roof planes? Change your roof plane settings.

Got it... It's just a kitchen remodel so I didn't throw a roof on it. Thanks
Glad it was helpful

How do you usually do foundation pads for bearing points, etc. It seems strange they have to be under a wall. Is there something I am missing or a better way to do it?
I tried placing a square pad in the foundation and it only allows it under a wall.
It'd be nice to place it on the framing layer so it lines up with a beam or girder then copy paste in place to the foundation layer.
If not under a wall then you would need solid framing down to a pad. Kind of like the "Post w/ Footing" tool...

So this is definitely a very common issues for many years and is always a couple of items. (Really could have searched for this).
1.) You need to have a roof on the model
2.) You have something that is poking through a wall or roof and is picking up the light from the exterior. Try turning off sun and see if it goes away.
3.) Material Issues.
Looking how your lights are also showing light around the outside leads me to believe it is #1.

I was surprised last night to notice we lost the ability to set up which materials report to the estimate by using the layers dialogue box. There used to be a materials column, but I think it was removed in X14?? For a renovation/addition there needs to be easier ways to include/exclude certain items, or items from different parts of the floor plan. My project last night ias a two story addition with the roof being reframed on the existing, and a few bearing walls removed and replaced with new beams. Setting up line boundaries to only include those areas is cumbersome. It would be nice if you could set up individual estimate reports, associated to individual polyline boundaries, and you could individually decide if they report back to one large estimate, or separate estimates for first floor framing package, second floor framing package, wall stud package, or everything by floor level, etc..
You can setup which columns output to the report via the plan defaults preferences but then that affects every material list in that plan. I'm not ready to save 8 versions of a plan to have 8 different material lists.
Anyone have a better idea? I spent A LOT of time playing with this back during the covid shut down. I created a Master Material Price list for every item, only to realize a few weeks later that materials costs were fluctuating wildly, and my work was worthless. I REALLY wanted to be able to give clients instant budgets for different designs. But the quantity lists alone are pretty value for the contractors I send work to.
Open the rooms and walls set to retain framing before they are framed. In the components tab of room dbx remove everything that you don’t want to report. Manually frame instead of autoframe what you want wall by wall. It’s a process but can be pretty accurate if your model is accurate.

I have been fighting this for years and having to just use a polyline box with no line and solid fill to hide the fascia. The truss will hang to a beam or a girder truss. I have the beam pulled back so everyone can see the fascia. I can't turn it off on a line like the freeze. What am I missing, Any suggestions?
That appears to be a unique situation can you upload your plan or a sample of this scenario in your template so we can take a closer look?

Use Wall material region to cut the brick?

If you open a cabinet spec and set it's width to 24 1/32" it'll correct it to 24 1/16"
I believe that one of the programmers mentioned that the cabinet dbx will take down to 1/32" but will only report to 1/16" (iow it will round the number but the cabinet itself will be accurate to 1/32").

Rotate along the z axis 180 degrees. You now have a reversed symbol.
After placing in plan open object, at bottom of general tab, options reverse interior/exterior.IF you need the texture to reverse then make a second texture. First mirror you image in a photo program, bring it in and make new texture.
Hypothetically (don't have the time to test this at the moment) couldn't we skip all of these steps and just use the "reflect geometry" selection in the 3d tab of the new symbol? Seems like it would do everything you wanted automatically...

main house ceiling is raised to 10

Looks correct to me.
Since your floor in the structure is going to plane out and not drop down 1ft at the porch just as in real life you would have two framing members in that space one for the floor structure above which would have to be at the same level as the rest and then a ceiling joist for the porch ceiling. Place a flat ceiling plane at the porch at the height you want it.

Just keep in mind if there is not room for the track then there is not room for the door to slide open on the track…

Any chance you placed some windows in 3d view and you have a window that is in the exact same space as another but maybe on the attic or basement level in specifcations?

That's brilliant. Is that a pony wall then where the block is under the framed wall?
Yes exactly. Break the 4” block wall at the corner and set that part as a railing to the height you want.

In the attached image, I'm attempted to create a shed that will be built between the existing house and the block wall. I've drawn 2 gable walls and then created a manual roof plane to create the sloping shed top. The goal is to extend the roof to rest upon a small section of framing that would rest upon the top of the block wall so the siding would be flush with the exterior side of the block.
I've tried creating a pony wall, but that places the framed wall below the block wall. I can't seem to define the block wall parameters (it's actually a fence with panels and posts) such that the framed portion is on top and integrated with the shed. The pony wall option only allows me to select a wall type. Is there a way to accomplish this?
Sounds like a lot of fuss for this very simple structure.
100% Automatic including framing with the exception of manually adding the pilasters with get this the "post tool".

Just curious why you don’t just use a doorway to accomplish this?
