  1. I actually ended up leaving the window alone, too much work for a window that will probably never be bought. It is fixed and I think the owner is good with the simple design I went with.
  2. Yeah and it probably isn't even something you can get special ordered in a timely manner. I say just leave it an arched window at the top and move on.
  3. Thanks chop, let me give that a try.
  4. Anyone know how to arch the bottom of windows as as shown below?
  5. Hey guys, there are times after I have designed a home I have went back into the defaults and changed the colors/materials (fascia, moldings, wall material etc) and the model updates accordingly. Then there are times like today the roof material and colors won't update and I find myself manually painting the trim just to keep moving forward. It's not a big deal or time consumer on small homes but this is over 4000 SF. Obviously I am doing something wrong. I will say the whole complex roof was built plane by plane and not auto-built so maybe that it was it it? Just want to be prepared for the next time.
  6. Heck Yeah, I forgot about twin motion, thanks!
  7. Do video cards crap out like anything else? It seems my renderings aren't as crystal clear like they used to be (physically based). I only have a year and a half on the card and was just wondering, I have used it quite a bit for my screenshots to the client. On that same note, if I want to start trying lumion, would the 3080 do ok? Thanks
  8. The wife is a Realtor and uses chat GPT but I haven't really wrapped my head around this whole AI thing. I instantly think about the Terminator movies and that is far as I can get with it.
  9. I wish I wasn't so oblivious to all this AI I am hearing about.
  10. Gross is right.......and thanks, I will defintely look into your suggestion.
  11. Hello my fellow CA's. I got a request today to see if I could not include the sheetrock when I export my floor plans CA files to .dwg. Is this possible? I am always trying to to make the engineer's job a little easier.
  12. That is what I somewhat remembered in that previous thread. All good now and complete.
  13. haha We posted this seconds apart. I cannot select the whole pergola. One of the objects keeps me from being to select the rotate option. Probably the railing walls.
  14. Never mind guys, selecting a little at a time allows for me to use the transform/replicate icon and I can manually input the degree to rotate.
  15. Hey guys, So I was asked to rotate my pergola like 10 deg. Obviously when selecting the whole thing at once I don't get the rotate grip. How can I do this again? I cannot find the thread where this was discussed before. I would say screw it and rotate the terrain like I normally do but then the main home will be wrong. 4 railing walls created the "patio" I renamed to pergola. The rest is general framing members and some stainless cabinets. The round sitting area rotates with it and is just a basic slab no footings (pulldown icon).
  16. I'm old school, 100' tape measure and a sketch pad. I hire my son to hold the tape and we are done in an hour on 98% of homes. Now if the home is huge, I first ask if they have the plans to the home, 50% of the people do and I save them money that way. If they don't I hire my matterport guy. I tried lidar on the iphone 14 and always revert back to the good ole tape measure.
  17. Every home I have lived in with a garage (4 total) has always had a 4" step down at least.
  18. Whoever built that house may not have thunk about the people who drink.
  19. Doesn't matter if I add or don't add shear wall details on my plans down here on the coast in Alabama. The engineer's will provide their own details anyway and override mine and stamp their own structural drawings. I made the details and have them in my library though.
  20. Thanks guys, these are good ideas to look at. The carport was built with railing walls. How do you guys build detached open structures like carports. I bet the way I build has everything to do with it. To clarify, The frieze boards only do this on my carports.
  21. Yep, I am too comfortable with X13 right now lol.
  22. Let me see about sizing it down.
  23. Does anyone know why or how to fix these auto generated frieze boards? It leaves gaps at the ends on every home I do. Just as a sidenote, I manually build my post and beams and create railing walls to do my carport but turn off the post to beam options. Does that have anything to do with it?
