Well, I tend to go months without having questions and it seems in the past 3 days I am getting several hiccups. I need to add a railing to close off this area below. Those openings are doorways with the trim removed. Besides manually drawing polyline solids is there a way to draw a railing wall without throwing the opening into chaos?

Hey Guys, is there a way to get rid of this on the ceiling when doing walls below stairs. Should I be using pony walls?
-
No worries DB, I thought everyone did it the same way haha. I will change my ways and do it differently now. It actually makes more sense with how you and few others who chimed in here do it. I think what happened with me is from the very first time I started on X10 CA automatically inserted them in cabinets and I have done it that way since.
-
Why the eye roll? It has been asked before on here I just found. Besides, it has been the easiest way to do DW's for years IMO. I remove that cabinet from the schedule anyway.
-
I like this.......the DW is inserted into a base in my home by the way.
-
I just copied one built-in from X15 and will roll with that. Sometimes DW's aren't sandwiched in the middle but on the end of a base cabinet run.
-
Really? That is a very odd update to do it that way. Thanks!

Hey guys, I just downloaded X17 a week ago. There is a supposed to be a fix for it but I cannot get dishwashers to insert into cabinets like past versions. I also see where basin sinks with faucet all in one and certain slipper tubs are not available anymore? I downloaded every library item available as well.

Looks like I have some investigating to do. I do like how migration was easy and I cannot remember if X15 offered that. It's been a minute. Skipping from 15 to 17.
-
This is how I roll. And I also upload the client's folder to google drive routinely to keep the latest and greatest.

Newbie to X17 here and already wondering the same thing about files. This will take some getting used too.

Sure did Ken, I plan on shipping Monday.

I auto frame it and then clean it up which includes me manual framing some areas. Framing is actually my favorite part of plans. Yes, those are 2x6's and other areas are tapered just not the porch for some reason.
-
Yeah, for some reason this happens every now and then. I usually turn it off but really would like to have a solution. Below is how I framed it.
-
Nah, I wish it were that easy but it is 9' like the rest of the home. Thanks

How do you guys taper joists when the program doesn't do it? See below and thanks!

On each house I do, I cut a back clipped cross section of an exterior wall and detail it out from that view. Because footers, insulation, sheathing, studs, facade, pitch marks etc are very common on my homes, I have callouts saved in my library, plop them in and modify whatever text I need to. Little things like this and pre saved general notes really speed up designing plans.

Thanks tundra! I will look into this now.

Hey Guys, Is there a tutorial on building a stem wall foundation and also having a mono slab on other parts of the home? I haven't fully mastered this over the years yet. I check the spaces of the home I need raised to "walls with footings" and the right wing of the house as "mono slab" because all those spaces are on grade. It never fails that this creates a huge issues. The garage can be marked as mono but it wants to build a stem wall. So then I have to go label it as bonus room and it builds as mono. I just cannot wrap my head around these type of fdns. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. See below as an example..........

Thanks guys, I did the "top inside corner" method and it looks great.

Hey guys, I asked this a while back but cannot find the thread. How can we shape windows like below in red without having to mull two windows. I need one window with that shape.
-
Thanks guys, I will give both a try!
-
How do you guys fix this since I have never had luck drawing a wall and it letting me break it into the shape I need. If I do a pline solid and make it drywall material it won't show siding on the exterior. Is there a proper way to do this?
-
Nope, no second floor. It's weird cause all the rooms match in heights and stuff. There are 3 good trays and 1 bad one. Makes no sense.
