  1. Hello my fellow CA's. I got a request today to see if I could not include the sheetrock when I export my floor plans CA files to .dwg. Is this possible? I am always trying to to make the engineer's job a little easier.
  2. That is what I somewhat remembered in that previous thread. All good now and complete.
  3. haha We posted this seconds apart. I cannot select the whole pergola. One of the objects keeps me from being to select the rotate option. Probably the railing walls.
  4. Never mind guys, selecting a little at a time allows for me to use the transform/replicate icon and I can manually input the degree to rotate.
  5. Hey guys, So I was asked to rotate my pergola like 10 deg. Obviously when selecting the whole thing at once I don't get the rotate grip. How can I do this again? I cannot find the thread where this was discussed before. I would say screw it and rotate the terrain like I normally do but then the main home will be wrong. 4 railing walls created the "patio" I renamed to pergola. The rest is general framing members and some stainless cabinets. The round sitting area rotates with it and is just a basic slab no footings (pulldown icon).
  6. I'm old school, 100' tape measure and a sketch pad. I hire my son to hold the tape and we are done in an hour on 98% of homes. Now if the home is huge, I first ask if they have the plans to the home, 50% of the people do and I save them money that way. If they don't I hire my matterport guy. I tried lidar on the iphone 14 and always revert back to the good ole tape measure.
  7. Every home I have lived in with a garage (4 total) has always had a 4" step down at least.
  8. Whoever built that house may not have thunk about the people who drink.
  9. Doesn't matter if I add or don't add shear wall details on my plans down here on the coast in Alabama. The engineer's will provide their own details anyway and override mine and stamp their own structural drawings. I made the details and have them in my library though.
  10. Thanks guys, these are good ideas to look at. The carport was built with railing walls. How do you guys build detached open structures like carports. I bet the way I build has everything to do with it. To clarify, The frieze boards only do this on my carports.
  11. Yep, I am too comfortable with X13 right now lol.
  12. Let me see about sizing it down.
  13. Does anyone know why or how to fix these auto generated frieze boards? It leaves gaps at the ends on every home I do. Just as a sidenote, I manually build my post and beams and create railing walls to do my carport but turn off the post to beam options. Does that have anything to do with it?
  14. Yes! Silouettes are awesome for renderings. I also show them in areas where headspace is minimal.

Thanks guys, I only care about making them match for my renderings.

When it comes to framing members we can stain them any color we want. But Tongue & Groove is a texture that we choose from the library and cannot have color applied with the eyedropper. How can we make the two match?
  17. This is why I love the forum, smart people helping others. I have never included the room finish schedule because I called the material out on elevations. Now I will by pass all that and add the schedules. Just like I wanted.........
  18. what about renaming the moldings? No builder knows what CA-34 means. I wanted to give base board & crown sizes.
  19. Thanks guys, got it to work...much appreciated.
  20. Interesting! I will give that a try. Just to clarify, how do you open your materials plan dbx? The way I do it it won't let me copy by double clicking the space to open the box. Thanks!
  21. How can we modify what the schedule states for material? example below.....thanks guys.
  22. Thanks guys.......everything is good so far with edit area tool.
  23. Hey guys, I have a home that has been decided on to rotate to have the front of home face the water. This would require rotating it 180 deg. It is fully designed but no electrical or framing yet. Is there any precautions or nightmares that will arise I need to know about before I proceed? I mirror homes all the time but have never had to rotate after we get it designed. Thanks
  24. I actually just applied a wall cap (sill 04) to the exterior 2x4 walls. I try and avoid drawing anything manually in CA.
  25. Got it to work pretty decent. I will detail the footer later. How come the fdn is doing this in front of the doors you think?
