I would suggest just to create the 3D view of the Califonia tie-in once and use it as a reference detail instead of recreating it on every job. The important thing is that you have the detail to show what its supposed to look like to the framer so he knonws how to build it. Thats what all details are used for and why they are called details. Sections and elevations just gives you a conceptual over all view of the whole picture. Its not meant to be as a detail for building. Work arounds are usually more of a wasit of time then they are a help unless you have a specific use for what you are doing. Also, you want to make sure you are getting paid for all that time you put into it if the cient is demading a certain view. My opinion for what its worth

The main thing to do is to stop as much splash and water pooling as you can.

If I use the snipping tool to paste an image on my layout plan, how can I save it to my library? Any help would be appreciated

I placed it on the wall, adjusted the height and then I drug it out to the face of the soffit.

I'm feeling pretty greatful this morning! This is one of the most helpful threads that I have exsperienced! I keep going back to all of it and Larry's video. Thank You Guys!

I was looking for that and couldn't find it. When I was looking through the menu I was looking for the link symbol or the word "Link". Didnt think plan reference would be it but I guess it makes sense. Thank you Perry!

Yep Seems easy to us but maybe its not so easy programing it. Giving them the benefit of the doubt

Leads me to another question: So if you open a plan template and a layout template and you save them, how do you link the two together or is it automatic? Becasue when you open a layout template, it is reading from the last plan that you saved if from.

I was just showing that picture as an example of what I would exspect on the ceiling framing also. Maybe not call it a rim but maybe drywall backing or ledger or something like that.

Thank you Larry! This video is very helpful. Im going to review it again this evening when things are settle down and I can concentrate. I'm sure I will have a few questions when I do. One thing I do that is a little different from you is that I setup my libuary with catagories from every view instead of having so much on the screen. Since they made the Libuary so much better to except text without blocking it first and the upgrade in how the notes work, the Libuary is much more user freindly. I wish we could save section callouts in the libuary with all there layer settings, I think that would be very helpful. Again, thank you! Very helpful!

Thank you for your time guy's. I settled with the fact that what Im looking for has to be drawn in manualy. I went back and looked at previous drawing and I didnt see it in any of them. You would think it would add a ceiling joist up against the gable wall automatically but the simple truth is that is doesnt. Im not going to call the attic a floor becasue that will casue other issues. I also when back to X10 and it did the same thing. I will stick with "KISS" and not try to make things more complicated.

I have seen the rim before and then there are times when I dont see it, so I must be doing something that Im un aware of. Does not make sense to not have that backing for the drywall.
-
I have all my layers turned on but this rim (or ledger) is not showing up. Unless it didnt generate when I did the framing but I dont know how I would fix that. Any idea's? On the floor framing there is a box for a rim but not on the ceiling

When I open a new plan from Templates the cross section lines appear on the roof plan view. Im assuming that it will need to be linked with my new layout but I dont have a lot of time right now untill I get this plan complete but this gives me a start. I will mess around with it tomorrow some more.

The suggestion chopsaw made with saving to template works fine for now and so I really appreciate that. Im gonna have to make some time to figure out how to work the section views along with the layers. Im really confused but this information I think put me in the right direction. If there is a video somewhaere that someone can point me to it would help a lot or I might need to find someone that will do a one on one to show me. Paying for some help is definatley and option if it will save me some time. Thanks Guys

Yes 90% of the jobs that I do are the same. So do I just unckeck SAVED CAMERAS when I save the template? What do you mean by save the layout link?
-
Anybody have any good insite or ideas for saving framing sections so I can use them in new plans with all the settings? I alway use the cross section and then I have to change it to a framing layer section and then save it to its own layer I created so I have more control over it. It just seems like Im going through a lot of steps and Im not having any luck on finding a video or help on it. Any thoughts would be apreciated. Thank You

Questions about performance change from X10 to X13 upgrade
builtright3 replied to AvoyeDesign's topic in General Q & A
Going from 10 to 13 is a pretty serious upgrade. There are definatley features that would help you but if it were me I never make a change just before I go into a big project if I'm on time restraint. You will need time to adjust to the new upgrade. On the other hand, Im a slow learner and need the time and you may not if your a quick study. For whatever its worth, thats my thought -
Thank you! that is absolutely perfect. Thank you for finding that video for me!

So the way I understand it, that if I save one of my customer plan files as a clean Template then I would not want the saved cad blocks in my new plan. I am however going to save the cad details because I want the details to come from the same plan file. Things were getting to confused having the cad details in a separate plan file.
-
Looking for a little advise to setup plan templates; I know that when I save a plan as a template that I want to keep the "CAD Details" and not delete them but what about the "UNUSED CAD BLOCKS"? I don't really understand the "Cad Block Management" and how it works and I don't know if I need to. Any help or suggestions to help me with setting up templates would help. Looking for wisdom from experience. Something that HELP wont give me. Thank You
