I can have Chief create a foundation with mono slabs, see attached When I change my stem walls to Mono Foundation I get a concrete fill. How can I make mine look like Chief's foundation in plan view? Untitled 1.plan Baker Addition Existing.plan

Too bad there is not a setting that would make the windows opaque & none of the interior items would come into play with an outside camera view.

I re opened my Support Case & linked Chief support to this thread starting at post 8 in hopes they will read & respond to this issue.

Thanks for the information. Yes, changing the material fixed the problem. Ya Hooooo

Eric, Thanks for your time. Did not realize the material mattered in the floor framing. I try again in the morning.

Hope this is nothing stupid I did but the floor truss tool says there is no floor/ceiling to build with. Albany.zip

Exactly I have furniture on 5 of the 7 floors and the delay is quite a nuisance.
-
Funny that just opening the DBX rebuilds when nothing has changed. It should rebuild only if changed were made. If the cameras are not open every thing is quick as expected.
-
Yes those camera screen shoots sometimes revel scary thing in the reflections.

May I offer an observation too? When I have my 7 story condo open with Ortho Camera & other camera views I can select a door in plan view on the 6th floor & see pop up boxes telling me that Chief is rebuilding stuff on the lower floors one by one. The delay varies as to what cameras I have open. I have made no attempt to analyze the cameras that cause this. I reported it to Support & they said they could not reproduce the problem, but that was before I realized that the Cameras were playing a role in the problem. IMO there is no need to rebuild anything when opening an interior door DBX.

OK I have at a minimum 4 foundation types in a plan. How would you deal with the varying number & size or rebar in each type and have an accurate material list? How would you auto label them or better yet have a table for them? 16X8 CONC. FOUNDATION W/ 2- #5 RODS CONT. 24X10 CONC. FOUNDATION W/ 3- #5 RODS CONT. & #5 RODS PERPENDICULAR @ 18" O.C. 3000 PSI CC 42X18 CONC. FOUNDATION W/ 5- #5 RODS CONT. & #5 RODS PERPENDICULAR @ 18" O.C. 3000 PSI CC THICKEN STEP DOWN FOUNDATION AS INDICATED W/ 1- #5 REBAR

Take a look at this thread. (Headed out to run some errands)

FYI some builders want the wall sheeting overhanging the block stem wall & others want it flush. But I like to dimension to framing or sheeting for the framers sake. You can save you new wall definitions to the catalog if you like. But I save them in a Template Plan & always start a new plan from that template so all your settings are what you want. The power users here have many ways to automate plan development with templates & Blocks saved in the user catalog. After 27+ years with Autocad (CAB at TheSwamp.org) & only 1.5 years with Chief I feel like a newbie again. Sure miss not having LISP though, Rube is a poor alternative.

Yes 3D from Framing Overview camera to export. Very easy. https://accounts.chiefarchitect.com/3DV/166993214454130 You can do more post processing with Sketchfab https://skfb.ly/XSqC https://skfb.ly/6pwwt

If I might add, your walls are still Chief Standard walls. IMO they all need some tweaking. I too am still finding my way with Chief but for me the OSB should always be 1/2" & the Stucco 5/8" or less. On my block walls I use 1/8" stucco. If you are not using the Material Quantity's then the thickness is just aesthetic. Personally I don't want to see a this thick stucco layer in plan view. Also I never dimension to the stucco layer, always to the core of the wall. Exterior walls I usually move the 1/2" osb to the MAIN LAYER in the DBX so the OSB is dimensioned to & will be flush with the block wall below.

Locking on the demo layer also has the benefit of not snapping to those lines.

OK sending to Tech Suport

Thanks for looking. I found that the wall dbx when "Hang Floor Platform Above on Wall" was selected it causes this. I had unchecked it before sending the file but in my view it did not update. Closing the view & reopening it I see the correct wall. The material region was an attempt to fix this. Problem is that in section views I want the Hang Floor Platform Above on Wall checked. If I can repeat the problem I will send to Tech Support. Thanks

Can't seem to figure out why the wall finish layer is missing in this view. Thanks for any suggestions. MacDill RH-Unit B.zip

I put CPVC under slab in my own story home in 2000. If piping is in that attic here in Tampa Florida the cold water is hot during the day with 140 deg attic temps. One problem with CPVC, it gets brittle over time. Friend of mine broke a pipe fitting while walking in the attic. Personally I have had two fitting leaks on the hot water circulation system. Yes two elbows cracked in the throat of the fitting. Had to jack hammer the floor to get at them. My theory is that there was a bow in the piping when the back fill took place. Other than that I like it.

Interesting, I'll give it a try tomorrow. Thanks

Not sure why I cant solve this but need some help. I tried wall dbx balloon through ceiling. Maybe that is only for framing? The wall shown in the picture is a 8" CMU wall & should completely separate the units. (Fire Wall) Also the Framing Ortho View is what I want to share with the customer but I can't close those wall gaps. https://accounts.chiefarchitect.com/3DV/166993214454130 MacDill RH-Unit Treetop Framing.zip

Any idea why doors in exterior walls are showing up without the walls. The interior walls & doors are off. Those balcony walls are exterior but not load bearing.

Oops, could not find a way to rotate it. try 3D warehouse

It in there some where. May be an add on library.
