In regards to Mick's comment: "The Toolbars are not consistent between Views , though you could configure them that way with the customization tool but will likely see blank spaces as some tools are not available in some Views. for eg you can't dimension in 3D" I totally understand that aspect - but what is happening is when slide one tool line around in say CAD view, my toolbars in plan or elevation view are altered - and not particularly consistent with the adjustment made in CAD- am I making sense here? Carrie- CA tech support- suggested inserting "empty space" tools to ensure the configurations were basically "full" or "locked in" Her quoted response from my submittal here: "One thing I’d like you to try, since you like to have the toolbars spaced a bit, is to use the “Empty Space” toolbar item for the padding between toolbars. You can use the empty item to create an empty toolbar that should maintain the distance. Just add it like you do any other custom item. I just learned about this item today and I’m truly sorry I didn’t know about this item before, I would have had you try it long ago." Did not seem to help - and realistically had never had to deal with that before.

Thanks Dermot- I have been working with Carrie on this and have sent her all system info and toolbar files requested from previous episodes. The problem you mention above with all toolbars landing in the upper left corner is a partial symptom of the condition I am experiencing. Maybe you can connect with here and she can provide some info as to what she has been doing?

Thanks Mick- I am going to go through all of this with Todd- aforementioned IT guy- tomorrow and follow up here.

Good afternoon- I have been fighting through this consistently for better than a month with limited success in resolution. I uninstalled Nahimic per Mick' suggestion and still am having issues- at minimum once a day. (side note on Nahimic- when I search for it it does not show up in any programs I can remove - it does however show up as being used by audiodg.exe -am wondering if all should be deleted?) I do have my IT guy coming over tomorrow am to give the system a thorough check up and confirm drivers are up to date- etc..... I have also requested a screen share with a CA tech so they can see how this is taking place. I feel like the toolbars in general are always unstable at this point- Whenever I adjust the configuration of one- say in CAD for instance - the configuration of another is affected. This is consistent between any configuration I work through? Any thoughts are appreciated.

thank you both- using X13 with latest update. will look into Nahimic and report back

Just had same issue again- Please see attached screen shot of toolbars after corruption. occurred when I drug layout view to 2nd monitor. Any help is greatly appreciated - Zero time for this right now -

Thanks- not hoping to drag anyone else down but good to know I'm not in this alone. Any chance we can get "Brian" to chime in on his experience with dual monitor issue? The reason I am asking is this is exactly what causes it in my case- grabbing a view and dragging- sometimes quickly- to the 2nd monitor. Maybe graphics card issue? Side note - I sent screenshots of the situation as well as my toolbars to Carrie at Tech support when this occurred in X12 - she hoped they had it resolved for X13- guess not completely.

I wanted to reach out to the forum before I head for tech support on this again. I have been using X13 for a few weeks and just had my first instance of toolbars whacking out when I drag a view from one monitor to another. This was a thread that was up and running with X12 and tech had no resolution- I was really hoping that it was resolved in X13. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

What is this called in CA?. How to find Items close to the real thing.
RL-inc replied to divreig's topic in General Q & A
3d warehouse is a good resource- I generally find items that are pretty close and then can edit as needed. -
Wanted to check in with the X13 beta group and see if they have encountered any issues with the toolbars and their stability. I was involved in a previous thread regarding tool bars corrupting in X12 and had quite a bit if interaction with Carrie at tech support on it. She claimed that toolbar stability was a major point of interest in the new release and I am hoping it has been addressed.

I talked with Carrie at CA yesterday and she said one of the things they were trying to get dialed in prior to release is the issue with toolbars whacking out when views are dragged across multiple monitors. An issue that I went into in depth in the thread "Menu Bug" back in April - and I am updating now. She did say Beta was supposed to be coming out soon........ not sure how long until that translates into full version release but her thought was consistent with end of June.
-
Update- Talked with Carrie at CA and she has passed on my toolbar files to her developers. After that they had been to recreate the issue but only on occasion and with no consistent contributing factors. She did say that the issue had not come up in X13 and was hopeful that they had it fixed. I requested that I be offered some sort of credit on my X13 SSA renewal based on the fact I have been forced to work with a defective version of X12. Carrie stated that their policy is not structured to do that but as mentioned the issue appears to be resolved in X13. I replied that I wanted to be clear on what CA's response was....."I am supposed to spend 500.00 on an upgrade to a version that has fixed a problem I have had to deal with in the current version I spent 500.00 to upgrade to" Carrie agreed that I had a full and accurate grasp of the situation. Full disclosure- I am very happy with CA overall and this is really the first issue I have had that I don't feel was handled fairly by CA. I was very transparent with Carrie about it and told her I would be expressing my opinions here.

Thanks Robert- Looks like the min I can find for a one side only application is 3 layers of 5/8" type X per WP9021. Better run with what we have spec'd!

I will look at the drawings when I check the job this afternoon- If it is required from both sides the building design the had approved would not have met that standard however- That said, I am assuming that the rating is from the interior side only.
-
I have a buddy that is building a steel warehouse and he needs a 1hr fire rated assembly along the rear wall line due to proximity to PL. Typ. steel building with no sheathing on the exterior side . He does have 5/8" type X on the interior but I can't find a 1hr detail showing only that material on one side- Anyone ever see a similar condition of have a supporting detail? Much appreciated as always

Strictly based on timing I doubt we will see any resolution in X12- Makes me wonder a few things: -Why this is such an issue so late in the release of this version. Was I just not happening before in X12 and now it has popped up? And if so what changed? -If it has been an issue in X12 all along why not patch to fix it then. -What set up or setting are some of the real power users like Michael, Scott, Eric, Joey, etc...... using that has prevented this issue? I can't imagine them putting up with this for very long. To put a bow on it I guess we just wait until X13 and hope we don't have to deal with it

A bit of follow up from tech support for those of us still experiencing this or similar issue. Hope it helps As I mentioned, our developers are able to reproduce the problem more often now (not consistently but definitely more often), which is a great help as we weren’t able to do so prior to your submittal of your toolbars folders. Thank you so much for sticking with us through this.It appears that the problem is related to timing and not any particular action which is why we’ve had so much trouble reproducing the problem. Unfortunately, this means it will not be a simple thing to fix and will likely not be in a patch to X12. We’ll certainly try to get it there, but it might not happen. Here are a couple of thoughts from our testing team that might help reduce the frequency of the problem. Please let me know if they help at all.- Remove any spaces in the toolbars- Leave a Chief window open on the secondary monitor so that it doesn’t have to create the window later. It feels like the problem happens more often when Chief is creating the window than when views are added.Carrie

Thanks Michael- That works - certainly looks better.
-
Much appreciated Eric- will try and get it close enough to pass for now
-
Thanks Eric- that works - sort of See attached images if cad block prior to loading and then after loading when drag window size down an inch or so. The muntins are there but do not meet the frame properly- The window looks a bit off too.
-
Thanks Michael- I made sure they lines were blocked and still they disappear when I click on load custom muntins- When I click unload custom muntins the block appears again. Is there possibly a setting in the window dbx I am missing?
-
Thanks Eric- I went through the process as describe in the ref manual - seemed pretty straight forward but when I click load custom Muntins they disappeared? Tried on fresh plan with a typical wall set up also- same result. Maybe an odd setting somewhere?
-
Is anyone of aware of a way to add lites or grids to a shaped window similar to the one shown here. much appreciated
-
That 20% buys a lot of ProV1's

For sure- I describe it to clients like this - If you have 3 toiles in a house at 200.00 each =600.00 those toilets in a 2000 sq.ft. hosue = .30 a foot In a 3000 sq.ft. house = .20 Or a 33% price swing. In short not all sq.ft. is created equal.
