  1. Building on the videos Eric (Solver) made recently...I did this video to show how you can construct a tapered paneled column in plan view, using p-solids and a molding polyline. It's a fast method...and the best part is you don't have to use a 3D molding polyline. Check it out....
  2. Yea....I see the problem you are having. Can't say I have a solution...seems to me it could be something related to the bounding box of the symbol...but I'm just guessing. Does it have to be perfect? You are talking about 1/32" or so... It looks pretty good to me...
  3. Create a Cad Detail from view...In the CDFV draw a line between the two points you want to connect...copy the line - go back to plan - paste and hold position. You should be able to move your symbol using point to point.
  4. 1. Just remove the invisible wall between the two railings...all fixed. 2. EDIT: I also found that the two rooms on either side of this same invisible wall are not set to "default". If you leave the invisible wall...and then, open each room and set the floors...both structure and finish...to use "default" the floor system corrects itself. And, you still can use the invisible wall to delineate each room. Maybe you have a different flooring in each room? Not sure...but, setting the floor structure and finish to default corrects the floor system.
  5. @mgianzero - I have a YouTube page also...might be a few videos to help you get going. Here: Chief Skills My webpage: mychiefskills.com
  6. @kwhitt - generally speaking you have to work from top down.
  7. @sweethomedesign - thanks for watching!
  8. Thats because somedays I don't know what I'm doing...forgot to select a microphone. So...here it is with sound https://www.loom.com/share/0fb9d570bdd7420a8af12410732aa210
  9. It's government...they just love metric and want us all to "COMPLY".
  10. @robdyck gave excellent instructions... @Ronniesha - I made you a video with sound... https://www.loom.com/share/fc0b172dddd24f49b7b639dbe32c0792
  11. @BelfastCNC - I made a video on this topic a while back using X11. It’s still relevant...
  12. Yes...I have an idea! Check you this quick video: https://www.loom.com/share/bfb6008c3d8f4c19a2af14f01cb51cfa
  13. A really quick video on how you can use a single molding polyline and create a custom column with a stone base in just minutes. Create a symbol, add some stretch planes and save it to you library to use over and over.
  14. Check out this video...using just a single molding polyline you can create this post in a few minutes. As the guys have mentioned above...using solids might be easier but this is a good exercise to learn. A molding polyline can be a powerful tool if used creatively.... @stevenyhof - you might like this video.
  15. Curt - you probably have this solved...but, my quick video may help someone; https://www.loom.com/share/e0873412ed554df9b7cb90ee1feb35de With a pony wall...the easiest and quickest way is to add a "wall cap" molding. You can create your own sill shaped molding in a few seconds and then use it as the wall cap.
  16. I made you a quick "how to" video. Really no need for a "hole" for this type dormer...well, sometimes you need it but not for this example. Here's the video: https://www.loom.com/share/0fe61885ab9e42a9bfd2b42b9a376eb8 Check you my YouTube page...I have a number of "dormer" videos:
  17. @stevenyhof - I think the 3D molding polyline tool is almost impossible to work with...so time consuming trying to figure out how the molding will lay on the polyline...placing it just so. Just use a casing and move on to the next item...that's my strategy. One more way you could accomplish what you want. You could make a CAD Detail From View of the window. Trace the shape with a polyline in the CDFV...then copy it, paste and hold position on the elevation and covert it to a 3D molding polyline and attach the molding you want to use. It's still a bit cumbersome...but there you go, many ways to get what you need.
  18. Steve - Made you a quick video...https://www.loom.com/share/a66bec5e5b9840bc82164455062a2647
  19. Two things; 1st - railing walls are usually not set to be "bearing walls"...so, open the railing dialogue box (DBX) and check the box on the structure tab...like Eric has suggested above. 2nd - You will need to open your "reference layer set" and make sure the "railing walls" layer is checked. You can get to the reference layer by double clicking the floor number. This will open a DBX called the "change floor/reference". Then click the "define" next to the "reference layer set"... This will open the layer set and allow you to define the layers you want on or off.
  20. Here's a video showing BT's method...it doesn't quite work. The label disappears as soon as I reconnect the front porch foundation wall. https://www.loom.com/share/14f265b178754c1dbed2e3359416a0e1
  21. Not quite BT...when you deleted the front wall of the porch foundation...the LA label appeared...but, as soon as you reconnect the walls the label disappears. I also checked the basement area to be included in the "total living area calculation"...so, this area should be included automatically...but it isn't. I also tried by changing the basement room to "kitchen"...no luck. I don't think it has anything to do with the room type. But...I did use your technique and I did get the LA label to appear. - I drew 4 interior walls inside the basement room. The label appeared. I deleted the 4 walls and the the label remained. WELL...NOT QUITE. It's inconsistent. Not sure of anything now...
