  1. Might help to post where you are located.
  2. This has been a useful post. I think I figured out my problem, under Preferences : Appreance : Color Off has to be set to Grayscale.
  3. Thats the look I am trying to get Joey, I can't seem to figure out how to get the patterns to show as a light gray.
  4. I'm having a hard time getting the exterior surfaces to print in a lighter shade, I have messed around with various settings, but I'm not seeing a change, can someone point me in the right direction? Attached is a pdf of the output. I'd like the brick to be several shades lighter (for example), how do I do that? TIA rk.pdf
  5. I'm talking about toolbars, menus etc. Curious to see what works for everyone.
  6. I think in the definitions section (of the building code) it describes where the calculation occurs. On a related note: it would be nice if there was some graphical way that CA showed the area that it is calculating. - and maybe there is, I'm a new user, so its possible I just haven't found it yet.
  7. Thanks Steve, very informative, and I like the intro music!
  8. CA has some really good training videos, here is one for cad tools: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/44/cad-tools.html?playlist=97
  9. Hey Steven, The forum is a great resource, I have learned a lot just from reading posts from others in here. I am also in Marietta, holler if I can help. Nice fish BTW Rob
  10. I think when you put a roof on those bumpouts the "artifacts" will disappear
  11. That would be a nice feature to have.
  12. I think if you define that room as a garage, you wont have a wood floor and it will display properly
  13. Yes that works, awesome, thank you.
  14. How can I add a railing in the middle of this stair?
  15. There are a lot of designers using Softplan, and I think you will find the Softplan users are just as enthusiastic about their product as Chief users are about theirs. I purchased Softplan and spent a few months with it, but never really felt comfortable with it. I think both programs are very good at what they do, it really depends on what you like. Chief just seems to function better for me.
  16. Awesome job with the videos, those are quite helpful, thanks for taking the time to create and share.
  17. OK, yeah that seems to work thank you.
  18. I see where I can offset my columns to keep them from hanging off the edge of the deck, but I don't see where I can offset the railing? How is everyone else dealing with this? Thanks
  19. Good gosh, thank you, I have been looking for that
  20. Same here, I haven't changed any if them, they are straight out of the library. Maybe I'll try a different symbol to see what happens.
  21. Thanks for the reply, I feel (slightly )better knowing that it is a bug and not something I am doing wrong. I'll send it in to tech support.
  22. I have a wrap around porch, with columns. The location of the columns does not appear to match between the floor plan and the elevation. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance, this forum has been a great help so far. Lowe_alt_entry2_.plan
