CA employees may be able to answer your question about X8 but anyone on the Beta team can not due to the NDA (non disclosure agreement).

After building the automatic roof (guessing that is what you are doing) build the roof planes manually that you are wanting.

+1 on the 3d focus on object.

Jere, related to this, are you familiar with the new flat Velux solar tube? Very nice. The same workings but a flat glass exterior. I recently installed one at my house. It does cost a bit more but the aesthetic boost might be worth it to the client.

Dale, are you in the Monterey area? I could walk you through the process in about 5 minutes and it will save you a ton of headaches. Call me at 831-747-4718. I am in Carmel.

Dale, as Jonathan states, your have a process problem, not a printing problem. Are you using Layout?

Post your plan. You will need to save and close the file in CA before uploading. Could be several things. Easy fix is to build an attic wall. Draw a wall above that wall and hit the check box for Attic Wall. Do you want to the brick to continue. Do you want a flat ceiling in that little shed room? If no, then uncheck "Ceiling" for that room and make those walls balloon.

Try this dwg export and see if you get the same results

Terry, if you are open to a full critique of the floor plan and design let me (or us) know. I would be happy to discuss it with you since it appears you are at a pretty early stage of the project.

How many lights are turned on? Since we are just guessing, I am guessing a lot of lights.

Not that you asked but?
1. the laundry as you show it will be very difficult to use. The appliance doors opening will restrict your ability to be in the space if the doors can even open fully.
2. Why does the one bedroom have 2 doors?

D.K. Chings books are the perfect place to start. The design books are excellent also.

Yes to a window. I really try to avoid this situation and not place showers/tubs on the outside wall but sometimes you just have to. What I suggest is to flip the toilet and vanity location. I prefer to have the vanity closer to the entry and this will move the vanity cabinet away from the moisture of the shower.

If you have to crash that stair in at that angle use a landing which you can shape for the last tread.

I do what you do. As long as the surveyor has well named layers I can reorganize it to my own liking as needed.

Reboot your computer and call me in the morning. Don't actually call me I am just on my first cup of coffee.

One of the engineers I use on the Monterey peninsula uses CA but I find that minimally helpful. Most engineers are just using the plan and section views. I can export dwg for that easily enough.

It varies so much based on your printer/plotter. I have drawings set up so they print well on my HP110 but if I send a job to the UPS store they are too light. Trial and error. One thing I try to do is use the stock colors that are clickable in CA. I used to make custom colors but that is a waste of time and I have heard that CA performs best with their stock colors.

The answer is above in the thread. Print to PDF. Do not export the picture.

Grayscale is the culprit. Color is a lot faster. I will have to start printing to pdf in grayscale so I don't burn up too much color ink.
