  1. This looks like a really dangerous stair layout. I would not do this. Also, these three risers likely kick in the need for a handrail. Will you have handrail on each opposite side? My suggestion is to design away from this configuration.
  2. In WUI areas I have not been asked for a one hour wall assembly unless the fire code demanded it for buildings inside of 10' separation. It seems like the exterior siding material having a WUI approval should be sufficient. I am very quick to shoot these questions to the AHJ. 3 things happen when I ask a question of the AHJ (building official) 1. I get the answer that covers my butt (and it almost always the correct answer) 2. I endear myself to the building official through being respectful of their authority and knowledge 3. I generally learn the thing and maybe some more via the answer
  3. I would download that symbol, but I may run for public office one day and don't want to have to explain that in my browser history.
  4. From the Hammer and Hand best practices https://hammerandhand.com/best-practices/manual/5-envelopes/5-4-exterior-continuous-insulation-ci-at-walls/
  5. Can the Aussies chime in on this? Which direction does it scroll down there?
  6. I have used Benjamin Obdyke Slicker for wall rain screen. Easy to order direct through them. The products are very good. I have also used the Hydro gap product on a few projects. That WRB is great if you are not using a full peel and stick or liquid flash product.
  7. I just spoke with a tech at Benjamin Obdyke. Both the Vapordry SA and the Cedar Breather products are class A rated. The documentation for Vapordry is forthcoming but it just passed the class A rating. https://benjaminobdyke.com/product-systems/system-metal-roof/
  8. It depends on the nature of your business and how you are trying to present yourself. Looking at a floor plan presented in Fine Homebuilding has a very casual look as opposed to in a publication like Arch Daily where they are very clean black an white floor plan images.
  9. I am going to look into this as I have a similar situation. I am doing a double roof system on my current project. The first sheathing layer is Zip and then 2x4's on edge to get my overhang and fill that cavity with closed cell spray foam. Metal standing seam over the top of the next sheathing layer.
  10. Would Denseshield work? I am not speaking from experience but seems like the right type of product.
  11. Turn off grid snapping. The one that looks like a waffle

  13. If you have a pdf to trace, that is probably easier with the exception of a site plan. The walls of a dwg are only cad lines. The walls in a Chief architect file are 3d objects so you are just drawing walls over your cad lines. With a site plan, most of the lines I would use are CAD lines so that would have value.
  14. He had me at "Good day sir". I am happy to agree to disagree on almost anything if there is an effective use of "Good day sir!"
  15. check your distance from the origin. Chief does not like to be a great distance away from the origin. Go to plan view CAD - Point - Place point Open up the DBX for the point and check its location. If it is very very large numbers, that is your issue.
  16. Those point markers mean that you are floating a dimension in space rather than snapping it to something in (real) CAD life.
  17. Make a flat roof (new file) and place a skylight the size that you want. Then save it out as a symbol for import as an object for your usage.
  18. Dude, I was able to work Hyperbolic Paraboloid into her previous thread on this same question. Don't take that away from me. Do you have any idea how many years pass between being able to work that term into casual conversation? I will now return to trying to get dodecahedral slotted into a reply.
  19. If A and B are parallel, then A and C will be able to be horizontal. The only way to do it with the plan as shown would be to have your roof planes be hyperbolic paraboloids.

Sometimes you need to zoom in to get a snap to work better. Move the dimension string closer to the wall and zoom in to see if you can get the snap to hit the correct spot.
  21. Here is my fast and sloppy version. The bedroom is a bit small for how much they would like to put inside. Thanks for the bed parts; they made this an easier task. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tsuosjwcuupe8ysl2q6qf/bedroom-with-bunks.wmv?rlkey=ciq0cga2hl9qvego9jtu8dkg5
  22. Those are the pics they sent. I am rendering a walk through now. Nice a sloppy.
