The building committee chair asked for a material list that could be used to have subs start preliminary pricing. I'm pretty sure I know the answer as to how accurate it may be as well as how to segrigate it to the addition only. Since I've been building for 60 years, I know the process and can advise the chairman the list will not be fully comprihensive and some assumptions will need to be made, such as what to include for demo of parts of the existing building, any temporary roof(ing) etc., potential unknown's such as electrical l/ mechanical oads being added vs existing panel spares vs adding a sub-pnl etc. all of the items that will marry the existing with the expanded sanctuary. I used a room divider to separate the existing from the new construction, and named it the Sanctuary Expansion, I can do a material list for the room (sanctuary expansion) and that should (or at least it appears) to include the exterior finish materials and interior as well. That sound correct?

Thanks for the try Mark. The ceiling in the entire Sanctuary is "Cathedrial" the drum pit has a flat ceiling over about 7' AFF of the platform. I built the drum pits with poly line solids since I could NEVER get the walls to show.
-
Glynn, as always, you got it! That fixed it. Now I have to figure out why some of my floors are showing a gap between the wall and the floor. It appears to be a foundation intruding into the room. I had set my default for a 32" Stem wall, slab on fill. so I am not sure what's with that but I will do a separate post for that.

Glynn, I want to do a walk through path not frame by frame because I don't know how to stop the "skaking" results. I tried to understand the instructions in the help file to do the path, however when I attempt it that way it instructs to selecty a codec first then do the path, but if that options is available I don't know where to find it.

Shane, any idea why the walls are not showing for my drum pit rooms? I'm still battling that issue!
-
I unchecked roof and ceiling over both to no avail. I get what appears to be a soffit over the drum pit.
-
Shane, that was it. I forgot I copied a room def, then in define edit changed it to sanctuary expansion, dumb me set the function to open below.......what-a-twit?!?!?! Now on to the other issues.

I am having more and more issues with my current plan with every item, finish, I attempt to add something else in the plan changes. I have to get this straightened out in about 24 hours for the congrigation to see the presentation. I am worn out from working on all the different anomolies. HELP somebody!!!! X12 is sabotaging me!?!?!? I am trying to make the presentation as realistic as possible. We have 2 percussion (drum pits) one on the left and one on the right for the drummer and percussionist. To model them, I copied the interior 4" wall and modified it to be as close to the thickness of the existing which are basically 2X4 turned flat and 1/2" drywall on each side making the walls 21/2" thick. The openings are just framed for 1/4 plexiglass with 1/2" glass stops all around so I used a window (fixed lite) and removed the casings etc. I drew the walls in, and they show in the plan view exactly the way they should but in elevation they are not showing. I checked and the walls are not drawn as invisible, nor is the wall turned off in plan or camera view. Not only that, but if you look at the one on the left the ceiling looks as it should, but if you look at the one on the right, the ceiling is indented. When I drew the right one (the same way I drew the left) for some reason the software put a soffit over it. It didn't do that over the one on the left. I opened the right rooms dbx and made sure there were no checks for roof or ceiling over. Also made sure the wall heights are the same in both drum pits. I did want to put a lower roof/ceiling over each but planned to use a flat ceiling plane drawn in but havn't done it yet because of all the other issues I haven't been able to find a fix for. This last go around, I just noticed part of the floors in the other ares are showing gaps between the floor and exterior walls, and the inside of the foundation is showing, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON????? I've tried so many different options to get the floor to come back. What am I missing? Plan attached. Can someone please help? PLC ADDITION.zip

The last walkthrough I did seemed to work much easier. So I can use the mouse scroll wheel after opening the 3D view, and selecting the walkthrough option but doing it that way creates a shaky walk through. I want it to be continuous from start to finish. That is always the way I've done it before but now can't.

Hello Glenn my Ausy friend. I am in 3D view, I select the 3D view, go to walkthrough and select record walkthrough. Now I have the walkthrough option available The save option opens so I save. but I haven't created a walkthrough path or the walkthrough itself. Where do I go from here? The last walkthrough I did seemed to work much easier.

I've been trying to create a walk through, and in the process the floor in the area of the new expansion has suddenly vanished. I select the room of the existing sanctuary and open its dbx Then I select the sanctuary expansion (the room I created with a room divider: Both room dbx appear to be set the same, yet the floor in the sanctuary expansion has now vanished. With the presentation to the congrigation a little more than 24 hours away what in the sam hill is going on? Version X12. This is starting to bum me out! :-( The walls join properly because I can select each room together and independently.

Jim, I'm using X12. Here's my defaults:
-
(EDIT) the knowledge base directs to go to Preferences then Render and select a codec, but uless I've missed something there is no option to select or set a codec.
-
I am supposed to do a presentation for our church to visualize the sanctuary expansion, New Years Eve. I had a codec at one time but now cannot find it. Following the recommendations in the knowledge base I downloaded the Xvid codec at https://www.xvid.com/ Saved to my drive. I created a walkthrough path, but the option to record the walkthorugh is not available. I have the Xvid codec on my machine, but it doesn't appear to be available to record the walkthrough. Any help? Thankds

Well, it didn't work for me and I can't figure out why? I set the heights in the existing foyer the way it appears you have them set in the file you did. Then the existing santuary and set the height there..... and the same for the expansion............ but I didn't get the same results! What am I doing wrong? The floor in the area circles should be 32" higher. PLC ADDITION.plan

Stephen, this appears to be what I need. I will see if I can get it to work for me. I attempted the operation before and thought I was lowering the floor but perhaps not. My previous operations kept increasing the room height not lowering the floor. Thanks.
-
Drawing the ramp on the exterior is no problem but it ought to be simpler to draw the sloped floor?
-
Concrete on fill. With a CMU stem wall all the way around.
-
My idea didn't work, and lowering the floor how? I changed the stem wall to 16" but that just raised the footings in that area. I opened the structure tab but changing heights in that only raised the ceiling 16". :-(
-
I couldn't get that the work first go. I have an idea and will try it again.
-
The room is rectangular.
-
So. I am not able to model the sloped floor using the ramp tool. First ,setting the height to start at the height of the adjoining areas vs setting the height of the lower floor should allow me to start the ramp at the top height and draw it holding down the right button and dragging to the lower end, but that didn't give me the desired results. Some how I have to show the starting floor at the higher of the two elevations, and the sloped floor at the lower of the two elevations before drawing the ramp down. HELPPP! please

I watched the video I mentioned and it IS great for exterior ramps. It doesn't address my particular situation. So, If I am to use the ramp tool to create the sloped floor, I can't find a way in either the room default, or the edit>tools>default>rooms>floor to slope it. Before I attempt it, do I just go to the room default>floor and uncheck all tabs to do with the floor structure and then use the ramp tool inside the room to model the ramp? I can give that idea a try.
