Linear Ceiling Surface-Mounted Light Fixtures w/ Wrap Around Lens
Doug_N replied to Buster12's topic in General Q & A
Are you referring to a trougher like a utility fluorescent style light? A 2 x 4? -
here is a link to curved stairs. If you do a search on youtube for Chief Architect I am sure you will find many more https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/388/drawing-curved-stairs.html?playlist=89

Try posting the plan file so that others can try to find what you are actually seeing. Also it might be a good idea to post a screen shot of some of the views where you are trying to see the bonus room.

Do you have two floors defined?
-
Maybe post your plan file, along with a sketch of what you are trying to accomplish. Just a suggestion.
-
From the Ontario Building Code definitions: Exposing building face means that part of the exterior wall of a building that faces one direction and is located between ground level and the ceiling of its top storey or, where a building is divided into fire compartments, the exterior wall of a fire compartment that faces one direction.

I have exactly the same issue with window areas. As previously posted in the forum, the Canadian Building Code, limits that size of a window if it is within certain prescribed distances to the property line. The exposed wall surface is specified under the code as the area of the wall above the grade, and this stops at the highest ceiling (Not the roof). Then, consulting the tables, that wall area determines the maximum "unprotected opening" allowed for that wall assembly, as a percentage of the wall area. That wall area can only be determined at the time of this posting by tracing the prescribed wall area with a closed polyline. Jason, please correct me if I am not describing this correctly.

Please post the plan file.
-
Please post a copy of the plan file so members may make a better assessment of what happened, and perhaps a working solution.
-
You can do that by setting up a new reference display layer set, turn off all layers in this set that you don't want. Set up the display for the footings, and reference walls on a different floor to display at the same time.
-
Hi Gene, Did you try a horizontal offset on the railing?
-
Make the invisible wall have a railing attribute. Put the footing on the footing layer. This should solve both of your questions.
-
Where would this type of footing be, when not under a wall? Any wall type can be made to have footings under them.

Anyone else using OneDrive to store client projects?
Doug_N replied to BrianMSmith's topic in General Q & A
Hi Rene, What if you only keep the plan and layout files on OneDrive? That is my practice, and so far, I have had no problems. -
Nice one Eric. I like to snow effects!

Not really a question, but, but what the heck! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Chief Architect designers, and to their families as well. All the best from Whitby Ontario Canada! Just to put some CA content in this thread, please post an image of your best Christmas building design!

Is there a solution or work around for this Eave/Gable issue
Doug_N replied to Larry_Sweeney's topic in General Q & A
My suggestion to getting a meaningful answer is to post the plan file. -
Try building the floor, wall and ceiling framing. Don't turn on the framing layers in the current view. I think it will build out correctly. Also try posting the plan file to this forum. Often someone will take a crack at fixing the problem and letting you know what went wrong
-
You can do that, and it results in the correct orientation so this would be a good solution. Thanks, I should have thought of that.
-
LOL right to the point! Thanks, that is what I thought too.

Anyone know how to rotate the symbols so that they align with the note text?
-
I agee, Snagit is not expensive, is easy to use, and you can do annotations that are clear and simple.

I can make the roof behave by manually editing roof base polyline, but in auto, strangely some overhangs are 12' 10". I don't understand why. Liberty House.zip
