  1. Once again it is way over time that Chief examines their out of date procedures and writes net wats of doing things. this does not reflect a mature product
  2. Actually you are correct but in my humble opinion Chief could help with tools to make it easier. Time for Chief to catch up with other programs.
  3. The layer system is way more complicated than it needs to be Chief should be completely reworking many features that have been carried forward from update to update. I draw my RCP be hand and save as a cad detail then insert it into the layout.
  4. I agree with you to a point, BUT it would be nice to doo presentation dwg like VW. do you agree
  5. approximated is the oppertative word Bryce.
  6. DAH, I'm an old stupid man. Thanks for the input. much appreciated
  7. Scott, This is one of Chief's greatest deficiencies, a complete PITA.
  8. I'm looking for a corrugated metal siding material, anybody have one that works. Thanks
  9. another approach. make main layer 2x8's
  10. I keep having a problem with the Kohler lib. Kept getting an error message, submitted a ticket, got an answer, didn't work. I then deleted the Kohler Lib, restarted computer and diwnloaded the lib. I still get this message
  11. Very cumbersome, problem should be fixed
  12. Where is Shelf and rod. I thought it was in cabinets, but there is just a shelf there. Am I missing something in my old age?
  13. At one time, in my younger years, I was registered in 19 states. I was from Nh, now Arizona. I can safely say that, with a few exceptions, the situation is country wide. My comments are targeting the Nation Builders that seem to have the pull skirt som regulations.
  14. I also moved over from Home Architect.Befor that I started using VCAD in 1983. Much better product thanj AutoCad back then. It was menu driven much easier to use. The never went to 3D therefore the move to Chief. although I still draw some details in VCAD, much faster, then DXF and inport to Chief.
  15. With over 62 years in the business much has changed. My top complaint is the quality of the product that is being produced. Here in AZ the market is dominated by the large national and regional builders that are producing, for better than a better word, crap and being successful at marketing and selling this product. It is a quanity over quality race to who can be number one. There are a few exceptions but alas they are far and few between. Technology, except for a few instances has taken a back seat to the quick dollar. Ok It is just my opinion.
  16. version 4, trained by the late Steve blake, ART trainer
  17. Michael they should incorporate your efforts and pay you for your efforts.
  18. Thank you Dermot for your feedback. I my opinion the dimension content is very lacking for this reason. As many of you know I started using CAd in the early days of pc cad., namely VERSACAD in the 80's. That program allowed what I'm asking for back then. Now here I'm going to get in trouble, You people at "ART" have to be more concerned about producing an efficient work product. In my opinion at times you are much more concerened with "colored hangers for 3D. Here is a very short list of missing function in Cheif. 1. Dimensions, just talked about- could be remedied by having a toggle on each dimension with the choise of ft or inches. 2. Metal door bucks and for windows.- A must now that you are getting into light commercial work. 3. Steel joists. - already discussed with work-a-rounnds that take time.- It seems if AlaskanSons. can put an elegant solution your programer could do the same. 4. realistic pocket door symbols.- seems like an easy fix that has been discussed for the last four verions or more. 5. Many more production items should be addressed. I would suggest these items are available in many of your competitors products. You guys have made great strides on the whole in producing a mature product. I'm disapointed that so many of the "small" things fall through the cracks with your programers. Just the rambelings of an old man interested in saving production time.
  19. I'm not sure how I change one small dimension to inches while leaving the remainder of the string feet and inches. Can anybody help me. Thanks
  20. I'm trying to find contemporay translucent glass o h garage doors. Anybode have one
  21. Experience and a roofing square should do the job.
  22. Great tutorial, for the life of me I can not understand why Chief does not make this part of the program. My standard refrain is: I can get colored hangers but not the framing I require to complete a project in a timely manner. I sure hope Dermot is watching. PLEASE
