But the issue i see is the tiles have to match exactly where the cut out is in both vector view and standard view, and i think it can be difficult to align x and y for this tile especially if there is more than one instance? Maybe it makes sense to make tiles as a 3d polyline solids and then the hardwood can be cut using a precise material region? Chopsaw what is the #3 key, forgive my ignorance?

I would like to get some ideas on the best way to represent this blend of larger hex tiles and hardwood in chief?

Thanks a bunch eric, how would anyone know that? I changed the drawers back to slabs and kept the doors as a library slab with horizontal grain texture. I used a vert grain texture for drawers to get a horizontal grain in end.

I did this and no matter what i do i cant get the drawers to show horizontal grain wood, i saved material and rotated it 90 degrees and tried putting both on drawers..it wont change?

What if i just want a flat panel door/drawer?

Hi all, i want to have a horizontal textured laminate look on a full height cabinet for both doors and drawers. CA automatically makes drawers and doors go in a different direction? I thought maybe make two different cabinets and have two different materials, is this the only way i can do this or can i do this on one cabinet another way?

Thanks for reply’s it seems like ca has some work to do on stairs. adjustible stringer thickness comes to mind as well as separate material for stringer. in my area for a standard builder house they use a stringer against wall and run carpet up the inside of stringer to the top and then a wood cap is put on top of stinger against wall to finish off. but there is about 1/2” of space between stringer and wall then a 1.5” stringer..

Thanks Eric, i wanted to show carpet on stairs and another material on stinger. Maybe i can use a carpet runner full width? Seems very odd that ca would have the stringer the same material as stairs, this is not the norm in my area? Cheers.

This might sound like a stupid question, but is there no way of making the stringer a material other than the risers?

Thanks Alaskan Son, great work around. After the roof is set then I turn off auto roofs and change roof structure back to normal? So would I have to set sheathing and framing to .001? But as you said it is a challenge to calculate distance off plate especially if you have multiple roof slopes , not set up for using plated roof trusses at all in my opinion.

I have to say even with the issues I use watercolour all the time to show clients design.. to me much better than trying to create a photorealistic rendering that always looks fake unless you take a ton of time.. watercolour takes secs..

In my area and I know in many locales in the states where plated roof trusses are used it is common to set heel heights( dimension of truss thickness at face of wall, top of wall to top of truss) ie 12” I have seen the usage of msr lumber and spf lumber for trusses across USA and Canada and there is a ton of it used. So my question is why does CA continue to just assume roofs are stick framed and don’t give an option for a heel height? And why don’t they show spf lumber as an option when this is a very prominent lumber being used in the US and Canada ? Come in CA smartin up!

I tried opening from startup and no go. i can’t believe I have lost the work. with auto save on how could I? very frustrated. If I saved over it can I undo? seems undo only works for active session.

I ran into windows not showing opaque and how I fixed it was change the glass to another glass and then change it back and it seemed to work this way every time... it is very annoying and takes time.

Hi All, i did some work on a plan and now i cant find the work i did on it. I have looked at auto archives, not there, searched my drive for other plans, looked in other locations and still cant find changes. I have autosave set for every 5 mins. Is there anything else i can do?

I need some help putting a grade wall below this basement level slab. I am trying to utilize the material list to calculate conc. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Another thing you cant do with box window is add corner boards? Unless i am missing something..this is dumb.

Thanks for all your answers guys...i did get it to work by making wall go thru and then adding a pass through. Yes a real PIA not being able to select opening without case or frame being on...whats with that? This seems like a problem CA needs to address,..this box window issue...why so complicated and why hasn't this already been done???? Come on CA...

Not sure if posting a plan will help, all I did was raise floor to try and create a box window and it leaves a hole n wall below. is there a different way this should be done?

I am having a great deal of trouble just making a window box, i raised floor but then wall below is open? I tried using the window box tool but it would not let me put on corner boards? This shouldnt be this hard, Help!!! Also my railing wall on balcony is two different colours? Whats going on? I tried deleting and putting new one and it still does not fix. I am not sure if my plan is corrupt but when i change a wall now it doesnt change it in 3d views?

Thanks, i did not know you could have multiple page layouts for different pages, this way i could have a cover sheet without title block etc.. I am watching video on layouts now to learn more. Thanks.

Thanks Chopsaw, this seemed to work. I have not been using page layout box before. But i put the # symbol into the layout page information but somehow one of my sheets now is missing my titleblock from page 0, any idea why?

I thought there was a way to show what page no on the layout this section detail was put on if the auto button for text below line was checked, not working for me?

I have set my plan display section to auto for the second line but they do not show the page of the layout that the section view has been sent to? what am i missing?
