  1. origin is right beside my model but i start drive by some 800' away...too far? I even made my shingles 1" thick...didnt seem to help.
  2. Actually it worked while i had 3d view open but when i did walk through drive by it is still z fighting.
  3. Thanks guys, that did the trick...i have it set to 2" for inside renders so i dont cut lights and counters while doing 360 inside and close to island.
  4. I am doing a drive by and i am getting z fighting on the roof shingles. I have increased their thickness from 1/8 to 3/8 but still getting this issue, anyway to fix it?
  5. Thanks...i did not realize it was the full camera preset.
  6. I want to do a drive by walk through of a project from road. I cant figure out how to turn on backdrop and change sun angle and adjust camera settings. It will allow me to select what type of camera but not other things like field of view, etc. How is this controlled?
  7. I would say 90% of stairs built for homes and multi-family here in canada are pre-built by a stair manufacturer. You can request a cut out stringer but it is far more common to have a routed dimensional stringer with perhaps a 1" plywood tread and 1/2" plywood riser, then it is glued and nailed together and shiims are placed on the underside of both riser and tread to keep these tight and squeak free. I am surprised that prebuilt stairs by a manufacturer aren't the norm out there? I think if ca just gave us control of stringer sizes then we could use what is common in our own areas.
  8. Mick, if the stair is not butted up to framing but only flush with drywall there is nothing to hide stringer. around here many stairs are built using 2x10, 2x12, they are kept away from studs so drywall can slip by and then a cap is placed on stringer scribed to wall, then carpet is attached to inside of stringer and tucked under cap and treads and risers are carpeted as well. if I wanted to bury stringer in wall I would push stair flush with studs. just my two cents. cheers
  9. Thanks Mick, i can handle any 3d objects to make, just frustrating that i have to. Its great chief hard codes stringer widths...but i do not know of one stair manufacturer that builds stringers out of 2" wide material as a standard? The standard as far as i know is dimensional lumber 1.5" thick, and why when i place a stair against drywall is the stringer only 3/4" of an inch?...still doesn't make sense unless i wanted to place stair against the framing and then it would still be 1.5" thick...makes no sense. Come on chief it you are going to hardwire items get it right or give us control of these things.
  10. Thanks for help guys, Mick the roof structure should be 16” deep to allow for insulation and venting, this will reduce headroom some. kind of defeats the purpose of an automated drafting program when I still need to manually draw stairs don’t you think? maybe some simpler questions 1. How to adjust stringer thickness? 2. How to make stringer a different material than riser, because this does happen. I am frustrated that chief continues to give us updates and I continue to spend money on ssa and basic functionality like stairs does not get addressed.. is it just me?
  11. Here is a sample plan, i am trying to do a winder and a rail with pickets up to where the railing would meet a wall. Very difficult to do this any help would be appreciated. I do not think ca has done much to improve their stair functionality for a very long time, i wish they could make this better and easier to use and work. stair_winder_plan.zip
  12. Hi MIck, thanks for reply, doesnt stair sections want to connect when you put them together? This is an existing house i am trying to get a stair up to an attic space, what part does not meet code? Trying to find best solution given current space.
  13. So Mick not really sure how to do that. I selected ignore sub section boundries..that didnt work. How do you get stair sections to not connect?
  14. wow, that sounds complicated....i guess ca didnt do much with stairs in x10? I want to do a 3 tread winder and have rail open until it reaches the ceiling...i am having a hell of a time to get the stair to work properly...any thoughts on how to do this?
  15. Here is the finished hex tile splash study...thanks again.
  16. thanks michael...exactly want i wanted...cheers. the ridge lines on the edges is want i was looking for not the rounded look.
  17. 3D .tilles I think are really cool... that is what I want to show
  18. Micheal, how would a regular polygon be converted to a 6 sided pyramid shape? instead of building a custom shape I thought it world be easier to use ca that I can build and size this automatically. im not sure how I would build a 6 sided hexagon pyramid with chief?
  19. I am fooling around with a 3d hex tile backsplash. I used the primitive tool and set pyramid to 6 sides x 1" h x 8" I then turned this into a symbol and applied to wall. I was looking for the crisp lines of each face to show but chief rounds them off, any thoughts on how to do this?
  20. Yes I should read thoroughly, I was mixing up global and enhanced lighting... thanks for all who tried to help me.
  21. Thanks Brian for some reason i had global illumination turned off? But i still get a very dark room next to room where i have a camera, i have sent it in for you guys to review.
  22. Here is the file for anyone that wants to try and see if they have the same problem, it would be interesting to see someone try with the new nvidia driver 390-77 30 Christie estates v1.3 (2).zip
