Importing Plan - Roomplanner Vs Home Designer
scottharris replied to CBuserIndia's topic in General Q & A
Yes, you can import files from Home Designer Interiors to Chief Architect Interiors. With Room Planner, you can import walls, doors and windows into Chief Architect Interiors. It does not import items like furniture, cabinets or materials. Room Planner is mainly targeted to get as-built measurements for remodeling -
Joe and Others, You can continue to expect great content included at no charge with SSA. Some content for the government and special uses may have a charge - like Medical/Dental & Crime Scene and Fire Investigation; catalogs not related to residential design.

Here’s an example you can find in the Breckenridge sample plan set. The 2D ceiling view is with specific layers on. The 3D view, is pointing the camera directly upward.

Larry, when you do it, check your anno sets

If you click in a single room, say the bedroom, and then choose the auto interior dimension it will place dimensions in that room for all walls. You may only want it for two walls; which you can delete some of those auto generated dimensions and then modify the remaining dimensions as you need

Spell Check works fine in my environment with CAPS. I would not necessarily use the trackpad 100% in designing personally. I have a magic mouse and usually have external monitors for projects I spend more than 30 minutes on.

I have both a Macbook Pro 15" and PC laptop. Hands down the mac laptop is the best - mainly due to the track pad. I doc with both thunderbolt displays ($$) and run of the mill displays (more affordable). Both work great. I swap files between the Mac/PC all the time. If I used the laptop much w/o external displays I would go with the Mac (but they are about 2x more $). However, since I run with external monitors most of the time I use the PC (comfort factor).

It looks like your Lat/Long might be off for Boston. I used these numbers in the Sun Angle line (in addition to the north pointer) @ 7pm and did not generate a shadow. Boston: 42º 35' N, 71º 05' W

Can you post images or the plan?

There is a remodeling video that shows using a mask and layers (for visual and the materials list). Skip to around 17:30 to see it. video.chiefarchitect.com/?autoplay=1957

Is it worth going to a Chief Architect User Reception?
scottharris replied to Fun2Learn's topic in General Q & A

It would be a good chance to meet other Chief users from the area and learn more about Chief Architect Software. Washington D.C. Alan, these are solved in X8 now (due out in Q1) "word wrap.... and, more shape options."
