Does CA have an export to allow us to export to another program to do beam analysis? From their website at Forte: OPEN FILE EXCHANGE Send members to Forte for analysis from your software We provide the Forte File Format Utility to software developers looking to enhance their software so it exports floor, wall, and roof members to the Forte application for analysis. This allows your customers to skip remodeling spans, supports, and loads in Forte and instead send these calculations to Forte with all the necessary information pre-populated. Learn more about this interactive guide for software developers wanting to transfer information into Forte files from their own software applications. Seeking someone skilled in entering topography for my new house
parkwest replied to nbmorgan's topic in Seeking Services
Not sure how that would work with just a laser level, since the laser would only give you the z coordinate... and without the x and y coordinates of the z, that info would be useless.- 10 replies

Seeking someone skilled in entering topography for my new house
parkwest replied to nbmorgan's topic in Seeking Services
Are you saying CA doesn't have a "Lot Planner" module similar to Room Planner, where you could walk around the lot with a handheld GPS device and record the datum on the lot site for instant topo maps? Where is that suggestion forum now?- 10 replies

That is what I had guessed... If it was me, I would design it correctly and let the window guy adjust to your plan.

Have you looked in the library? They have a bunch of different switch combos in there.

Wow! Snowflakes in June! This forum is one of the best reasons to buy Chief Architect, imho!

Good morning Curt, I am curious... is there some reason why you can't make the roof pitch 3:12?
-
That window looks so bad tilted like that... I hope CA never comes up with a way of doing that. lol

Double sill plates help if the foundation is out of level... you can shim between plates to make it right.

One step closer to my dream of turning on the computer, then go golfing and come back at the end of the day to see that the computer has done all the work and a whole subdivision has been built... and the money is in the bank.

I just watched this video and thought it was interesting. They used an iPad to scan a room and got the measurements in about a minute.

Terrain Elevations with Google Earth and Sketchup
parkwest replied to parkwest's topic in General Q & A
Thanks Perry. I was wondering if there is an easier way... after the terrain GTM. -
Michael, first, you need to be in your layout tab, then go to "Tools" then "Layout" and then "Referenced Plan Files" to do the "re-linking" or connect to the correct plan(s).

Has anyone imported terrain elevations in CA using Terrain data from Google Earth into Sketchup? Has anyone exported a CA 3D model into Google Earth? It's been a while, and while using another CAD program, that I did this for showing a client their "finished" apartment complex layout. I was wondering if it can be done with CA???

Brent, welcome to the forum. I have found the best and first place to look for help for most questions is the knowledge base which you can find under the User Center tab.

Framing and takeoffs are two areas I would enjoy seeing more improvements in by CA.

Good, Fast and Cheap... you can only pick two out of the three.

What do others in your market charge? Go with that for now.

I used to get that when the drawing got too big, ie. fourplex. Ever since I bought the gamer computer, the problem has gone away.

lmao. good one! Reminded me of a prospect from long ago showing up with his plans drawn on paper grocery bags... he had a few notes on his plans saying the same.
