  1. OMG, now is there one for showing steam coming off a coffee mug sitting on the counter?
  2. I had problems with tracking time when having computer go to sleep without logging out of CA. Just highlight and delete the obvious wrong time and you should be ok.
  3. Just like driver licenses makes everyone a great driver, or, marriage licenses make for great marriages??
  4. Any examples to back up your gratuitous assertion that more licenses, rules and regulations will lead to more creativity?
  5. The less free market, the more homogenized housing will become... ie, soviet style housing projects, IMHO.
  6. I don't sweat the details much in CA when it comes to trusses... just to represent the roof style I am after... since it will be the truss manu. engineered drawings we will be going with in the actual construction.
  7. An auto label feature would be nice... For now I have been snagging the info., i.e. wall definitions, and adding that info to layout. Thank you for suggesting snag-it in an earlier post.
  8. Looks great! Now, I just wish I knew what you just said meant.
  9. Made me wonder... Can you use panoramic backdrops with CA?
  10. Looks like it might be faster to just type in the new dimension.
  11. Jerry, not sure how adjusting the wall ends would help with installing L shaped jacks where the interior wall butts up to the exterior wall??? From the lack of responses to this question, I would guess CA does not have a way to change wall framing options. Thanks for the suggestion.
  12. Thanks Jeff. I took a course back in the 80's that covered design and building of energy efficient homes and still implement most of what they taught today. Reminds me of when I was suprised when I was given an award for designing and building a 3800sf house on an ICF daylight basement, heated by a ground water heat pump, that cost less than $70/month to heat in Chelsea, MI... back in 1986. I was a young kid and a lot of that stuff was unheard of then.
  13. Thanks ShaneK. I hate to draw wall framing details... And not have it be the way I want it done. Going around and "fixing" the wall details, after the fact, sounds so unproductive to me.
  14. This is what I was used to when it came to framing options... Does CA have something like this?
  15. Is there a way to frame the interior partition jack's the same as the exterior corners in CA? "L" shaped with using 2 2x6's?
  16. In premiere you can hit the NKBA dimension button.
  17. Would setting sun to follow camera have any effect on shadows on the first wall?
  18. I was wondering what Chief's sales dept would think of the comments that only a professional engineer is qualified to use CA, in responding to the OP, who is obviously new to this program.
  19. The OP wanted to know if CA did any engineering calculations, if I recall correctly. You try to make it sound like only you can design houses properly and no one else can even put out design floor layout unless he has a PE after his name. My advice was to do the best he can and then take it to an engineer for review. What advice did you give?
  20. Yeah, I agree, especially if someone went around the perimeter hammering tack strips down. I've never built on an insulated slab before, this is what the investor found out of some engineering magazine, I think. I prefer daylight basements with using ICF's myself.
  21. Hey Terry, do you wear a pocket protector? I only hire engineers who wear pocket protectors. Btw, my 2 brother in laws are PE's from U of Mich and my girlfriend is a PE from Georgia Tech. Oh yeah, I forgot my Dad was an engineer. Curious, how many projects have you design/built and in how many states over the past 40 years? And how many states would you like me to be the qualifying officer in before you stop with your condescending attitude towards me? Can a third generation licensed builder ever be the equal of a guy who designed duct work for a living? OMG, I love engineers! .
  22. Okay, I think I figured it out. I thought since the lower wall height was tied to the floor height and the first floor was a slab located at the top of the stemwall -- I went negative 6 inches on the lower wall top and it works.
  23. Can you post your settings so I can see what I am doing wrong, because I am not getting that? I think the problem comes with the height of bottom wall being tied to height above floor - when the floor is at the top of the stemwall.
  24. Thanks David I figured if SoftPlan has the capability, that surely CA can do it too.
