Hi Rene, I hope you are well. I am not expecting this macro to be given to me, but I am curious if it can be written. Is there a way to make our elevation callouts on the layout reflect the name of the page (already does this) and show the cardinal direction? We were naming all of the cameras, but that is way too time-consuming.
Example: Kitchen - East Wall

A lot easier than that would just be to keep your cameras in your template file. Thats what I do in my Pro Plan template. To answer your question though, I would need to make you a custom north pointer. The north pointer does not have any reporting values, so i would need to CAD block it with a macro that picks up its angle and then create you a macro for your label that takes that angle and transllates it into directions.
Ill tell you that its for this reason that I do not label east west. I label left right . Let me know if you want to know more

Thank you, your video helped me realize how many more settings there are in X13 to customize dimensioning. It also may be that I was never pushed to realize that they were there because I was just too busy and everything was working as expected. I also really appreciate you expertise in showing me how it is done!
Now I need to go into a new plan and add all of that. I usually don't flinch about jumping into another version where there are some changes but I think this version took a jump that I will not mind once I find my way back up to the surface. Looking forward to starting clean in X13, I do think that the X12 plans are having some problems when they migrate to X13 where there are settings that were not there before as Kbird1 pointed out to me early on. I think my plan of action is to take some time to add all of the dimensioning options/settings and then know that some of my X12 plans might have some adjustments needed where there are going to be some points that were not there before. Both of you helped me so much, very grateful

My pleasure.
I am working on a module-based set of course curriculum as well as a catalog for chief. Hope to have it complete next year. There are many many many users that have not adopted the large number of new capabilities introduced in the last 3 versions. It may make your head spin to know the level of automation you can achieve.
I have a youtube channel in my signature and a symbols and content thread here on the forums if you'd like to take a look at additional content here:

I am new to Chief Architect and TwinMotion. TwinMotion will not launch my DAE file. It will import the file and it appears on the TM platform and that's about it. This is a huge problem and TM has not responded to the numerous requests in their Forums. Its seems very simple but maybe I'm missing something. I am using Chief Architect Home Designer Pro I was hoping you could provide a step-by-step tutorial on bringing a file into TM. I will attached a quick bathroom plan for testing. Thank You Andrea

@HDPWestCoast You say it will import. When it shows up in your scene graph on the right side and you select your dae model and select "zoom to selection" does it show up? It worked just fine on my end
Your design is a bit off of the origin coordinates 0,0, but not too bad.

I have been using CA for renderings in my design business. I need help importing PDF plans to CA to use in 3D mode.
I need to save time by not having to re-draw the plans. Do you offer this service? If so, may I ask what you charge?
Thank you-

Hey, I'd like to hire you to get me through some perenial issues I'm having with CA. Like the wackamole game. Example: I modify a wall in the back yard and 40% of the walls in the front return to the default material. And window jumping from floor to floor, moving up and down constsntly. I'm sick of these issues and want to learn how not to have them.
I believe someone should teach people using videos, not how to do things, but how to avoid things like the aforementioned wackamole games. Let me know if you'd like to make some extra money pounding this **** into my thick skull.
Here's an example of my poor use of the software. The windows jump more than Jessie Owens.
Thanks,Rocky

Ha, I love your sense of humor about it, I'd be willing to help out but have a packed schedule this week and into the next, would you be willing to work nights? alternatively, I can go through and fix the model and record what I did to fix it. I ran into a lot of mishaps in just the first few minutes of looking into the plan, it could be very expensive to fix them all, maybe you'd like me to outline some of the fixes and let you run with the rest?A question about the wall modification. What do you mean by modify? what are the steps you are taking to modify it? Try and be specific and that can help me help you. I noticed that you are using the same wall type for all walls. Common practice would be to use different wall types for different construction assemblies. Only use the painter tools for texture changes on like assemblies...otherwise you should change textures in the wall type definition dbx.
I've mentioned before that you shouldn't be dragging wall heights in 3d, you should leave them default and control the top plate and sill levels in your floor structure settings. It creates a lot of problems when you manually change the heights. I manually change wall heights on maybe 1 out of 100 plans.
The interior walls and structure really do lend themselves to the overall construction of a home in CA. It is very difficult to build an accurate shell without the interior walls and floor levels. For instance, you could very easily have built the floor plan and then auto built roofs and the roofs would've taken only an hour or less instead of taking hours to assemble.
All this being said, very impressive and complicated house you are putting together, you're going to be a beast of a modeler if this is the pace you keep. Feel free to give me a call if you like and we can talk through it.

Kelly, sorry for the delay,I had a chance to look them over, that's one heck of a house!
It could easily cost between $3.5-4.5K if you are looking for every detail of the house with terrain, textures, all of the details in the posts, an accurate Spanish tile roof, the split levels, open gables, fireplace details, custom doors, electrical etc.
Is that something that would still interest you?
We could break out portions of the project as well if you're more interested in say, just the interior, or eliminate some of the detail work.
Let me know your thoughts and feel free to give me a call to discuss. (925) 300-7004

Yes I do offer this, I charge $100/hr and am a very efficient modeler, but that doesn't really reflect cost of any 1 particular project as some are more difficult than others.
Please send over an example PDF to renerabbitt@gmail.com and I can take a look and give you a cost to complete.
I can also work within a budget of is beneficial to show a partial model or to create particularly difficult portions of a model. Hope that helps,
Thanks!

Hi Renerabbitt, I was wondering if you can help me with a flooring material?
Using (what seems to be all of) CA's wood flooring shows a reflection that I am not satisfied with (attached).
I used your better hardwood floor (attached) and it looks much better! Is there a way that I can accomplish this?
I tried messing with the properties, making it a Matte material and some other things but none seemed to effect it significantly. (I am fairly new to CA.)
Does it have to do with the roughness? Can I copy the material, replace the roughness file, and get an appropriate reflective effect that you have accomplished with your hardwoods? If so, can I use your roughness file?
(Also, I used your updated pendant lights. They look so much better and thank you!)
Best, Lea

can you post a plan file?
you can always blend my floor with a color to try and match the look of the OOTB floor.
Yes turn roughness up on the OOTB floor to match your liking. If there is a texture file in the roughness DBX entry you can try deleting it and then changing roughness. You should be able to adjust vertical and horizontal roughness with the absence of a roughness texture.
and thanks/cheers...love hearing when people are happy with item I've created!

Hey DMD, made a quick video for you for my method of the double gable- maybe it helps you out.
Cheers!
-
I learned that was as well, I only switched after noticing post after post of solver kicking butt at complex auto-roofs. That made me switch to auto-build and I feel as if it is superior, different strokes...I may feel differently after coaching slews of people in on-on-one. Its important to know how roofs function which would make sense to teach manual methods

How does Thea work with CA? does it accept imported files from CA or do you export CA files to Sketchup?
Are you happy with Thea's final rendering results?
-
Sorry, just now seeing this, I export as a 3ds from Chief and import into Thea. I think Thea's results far surpass that of software such as Lumion and Artlantis. Also if you have a powerful high core count processor and good graphics card Thea can take advantage of both. I haven't checked in with the industry lately but I believe this is the only software that currently utilizes both graphics and processor for a rendering.
I can pump out a very high quality rendering in an hours time, when most other softwares I have tried would take nearly a day

Good morning,
A couple of weeks ago you had offered to try and render at higher quality for us at a small fee for your computer's down time. Are you still interested in doing this? We have not had much luck with other options.

Hey Jared,
Curious if you offer up your macros..I'd be willing to donate
