BrownTiger 91 Posted April 8, 2016 Why wouldn't chief box the return on the second floor? How can I add a gutter on that side parallel to face ChiefQuestion.plan
DavidJPotter 315 Posted April 8, 2016 Here is a You Tube video about something you can do about that: Relative to your second question, you can add a molding poly-line using a gutter profile to place gutters wherever you like.DJP
BrownTiger 91 Posted April 8, 2016 Thank you, I've learned new awesome trick. I was trying to box the return on the front of the house, not on the side, to match the front double gable planes. (The floorplan is not real)
joey_martin 365 Posted April 9, 2016 In the plan you provided, the geometry is wrong. Chief will not create the correct geometry to complete the boxed eave under that condition. As a builder, ask yourself how you provide for a boxed eave in a perfect corner where the valleys meet.(?) You need to re-design the roof to provide for the proper roof returns, otherwise you need to add them manually.
BrownTiger 91 Posted April 9, 2016 Thank you ALL very much. > As a builder, ask yourself how you provide for a boxed eave in a perfect corner where the valleys meet.(?) I am NOT a builder. >You need to re-design the roof to provide for the proper roof returns. I have seen roofs like that with a partial returns... And David is correct they are using additional roof planes. Should I cantilever front by 6" over the porch assuming front gable 3 1/2 truss?
