ACADuser
I want the window schedule to show the headers correctly. What is the proper way to set the window dialog for a Concrete Lintel Header? How can you change all windows on a floor at one time to CC Lintels? Thanks
HumbleChief
Select the windows icon and hold down the shift key as you draw a marque around the windows. This will select all the windows. Don't know much about lintels as we almost never use them here in CA. You may have to add the spec in the 'Comments' section of the schedule. You can set the header to be concrete here. Joe_Carrick
Alan, Assuming that all your windows have the Header set to (D).... Open Defaults>Windows>Framing and Set the Header Type to "Solid Concrete". That will take care of both things at the same time. Note that you will probably need to suppress the "Lintels" as Chief uses that as a "Trim" piece rather than the structural Header.
ACADuser
Thanks fellas. I know how to group select but when I do I can not open the window dialog. I get this dialog. Maybe because some are in mulled units? not sure. It appears that you need to select "Solid Concrete" then uncheck Default for all shown in 2nd image then change height & width and count as shown to get the Window Table to look correct but Concrete is not displayed in the Window Table. Just wondered how you were dealing with this as we have many cc walls. BTW this house is CC on the 1st floor & Frame on the 2nd Floor so Global Default will not work. ACADuser
Ok, another issue, a window in a mulled unit will not allow header modification if it isn't on the top. See image. using NEXT to get to the window in question it dialog does not have a framing option. The Window Table still has the original header info & it can not be changed. Is there a way to access this header info. You should be able to edit the window table directly & thereby updating the dbx of the object. Maybe not enough people complaining about this? Kbird1
wouldn't the transom above that window have the Header ? there is no framing above that Window
ACADuser
In a mulled unit the framing is by window MFG & installed as one piece or just assembled at the site. No 2x unless the stress loads require it & then it is not a mulled unit IMO. In W18 there is no vertical load. The load is carried by W19 header. There is wind load so a 2x6 on it side may be used but I am assuming the window MFG is dealing with that load.
