x18 Room Labels WTH?

What's the deal with making room labels less accessible regarding modification of verbiage, text size etc? Really, with the macro crap?. Common Chief, the only thing that needed improvement was to have the ability to change the Room Name directly when you selected it. Now I can't change the size or anything by directly selecting the room name. This is CAD BS 101!!

With every upgrade your developers make the program less intuitive and user friendly. bb Until I can figure out what I'm doing wrong, I'm going to have to roll back to X17 and miss alot of the actual improvements in x18.

Thanks for the love. I've been playing with the "new and less easy to use, improved tools and can make, due and get used to it. 

Now, I just need to find a way to easily make certain room names  bold and underlined without having to change the default settings ot always BOLD & UNDERLINED!

You should be able to do this using the "room type defaults".  First, create a copy of the room label text style and set it to be bold and underlined.  Now you can go into your room type defaults and setup the label for the room types you want to use the new text style.  You could also setup your room type defaults so that certain rooms would go onto different layers and then setup the text style in the layers the way you want.

About two years ago on this forum, someone suggested using rich text and you can bold and underline the top line at say 8 inches. And then underneath you can add other information all based on macros so it reads the room if you make modifications. And then you can just copy and paste that text into each room and even have its own layer if that's something you want. So that's what I do now.

 

 

There are tons of macros that already exist and probably some cool custom ones you could make to tweak this into exactly what you want it. There's even one that does the ceiling height rounded to the nearest foot so that it's not scaring people who don't understand the inch and an eighth part.

Yeah I've been doing this for awhile but only after the floor plan is locked in when I'm doing the final con docs. For design iterations, I like using factory room labels because they're automatic, (were) easy, and look ok for that purpose, but the changes to the auto room labels really made that a lot harder. So for me, it's a pretty big downgrade.
