X18 - ROOM LABELS

Okay so I just got the new Beta installed and the first thing I notice is the room labels.  In previous editions you would pick on the room and the room label would have a surrounding box that I could modify the label so it could be adjusted in the room.  Now you pick on the room and you can barely see the pick box to move it and there is no way to modify the size any longer.  What was the point of this change and is there a way to modify the room label?

I'm not sure about the selection issue you are seeing, I am not able to replicate it. You modify the size within the Room specification dialogue, under the Label tab. The size is determined by the text style used, which is found under the Appearance section. You can set it to use the layer text style or you can uncheck that and type in a specific text size.

Rene, How in the world did you get it to automatically resize and abbreviate.  If you look at my screenshot, my Laundry / Mud room label is to long to fit in the room.  I have checked and unchecked all the boxes in the Appearance section and it still does not let me resize the text.

OK, lot's of changes in X18 and most of them are for the better because they made room labels work like all of the other labels and added a bunch of new tools that mostly work for all labels now.

As Molly said, you can resize any label by choosing a new text style for that label in the dialog.

If you want to resize a room label like you could in X17 and before, all you need to do is first select the room and then you need to click on the "edit label" button.  Then if you hold down the "x" key, it will automatically resize the label when you drag a corner handled just like it did in before.  You can also do this in the dialog by first turning off "use text style" and then setting the "character height" to whatever you want it to be.

This is helpful. I sometimes just want to shorten the box so the text splits onto two lines, without changing the wording or text size.

That resolved the issue.  I never even noticed the edit label button at the bottom.  That is huge.  Thx. DB
