Crawl Space Access

Has anyone created a working crawl space access panel?

A floor access panel specifically. Sorry I guess I didn't make that clear.

Joey didn't say but I am guessing that he is just showing the access in his plan view as a cad detail. 

 

If you need to make sure your floor framing handles the opening, you can always make a "hole in floor platform".  You could also make a symbol and set it to "cuts referenced surface (floor)" and then set "entire assembly" and then it will also cut through the floor framing but you can show a solid surface or even a door on top of the opening.

I do it in the floor framing plan, with details.  The framing is edited as needed.  And on the architectural floor plan, just like Joey does.

I have done exactly this in the past, and it works, but I was hoping there would be a way to create a symbol or fixture of sorts that recesses into the floor flush with the finished floor, but does so dynamically and has a hinged door like a cabinet. I have been playing around with a modified cabinet and then converting to a symbol, but I lose the ability to show the hinged door at that point. I have been converting to an interior fixture. Maybe I need to use a different selection?

I know right! I’ve been attempting to follow some of his recommendations to do just that. Maybe one day he’ll see this and explain it or better yet create a how to video in his YouTube.
