MN_JohnH Posted yesterday at 04:00 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:00 PM This is a first for me, I have never really had any problems with terrains with basic contours. I have a simple terrain here drawn and an elevation line and an elevation region at different levels. But in camera view the terrain is still level. It started in another plan but seems to be in this plan to when I simplified it just to see if it was a plan specific problem. If I keep playing and add some more drastic elevations in different place I can eventually get it to show some drastic results but it is not performing as normal. Is there a setting I changed somewhere without realizing it? Terrain problem.plan
Mark3D Posted yesterday at 05:43 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:43 PM (edited) You need to have more than one elevation region for height data that gives you a flat terrain try adding some more elevation data at different heights Sorry i rushed this reply edit with more infomation Both elevation heights are the same elevation region and line are the same heights when i correct it then even with auto build terrain does not seem to kick in straight away so i used a shortcut key command to build terrain that fixed it not sure what is going on just seems a bit slow to auto build Edited yesterday at 06:01 PM by Mark3D Wrong information
Mark3D Posted yesterday at 06:32 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:32 PM I always use a keyboard shortcut key to build terrain and i don't use auto build, so it seems chief does not auto build terrain until a camera view is used, and auto build does not show in plan view until camera is opened then floorplan is updated with auto build on. I hope there is clue in there to help with what is going on
scottharris
I think you will need at least one of your terrain values to be a different elevation - as Mark3D points out. Otherwise, the terrain takes on the common value you set which was -20’. In the example below, I added another elevation at the front with -15’
MN_JohnH
Thanks guys, I guess this is right, I need another line. Seems like in the past I was able to just put a line at a different level than the terrain perimeter and it would just take the terrain at the level it is and flow to the one line. Sorry for the trouble.
Doug_N
I had to make several changes to data to get the terrain to generate some non-cliff like changes. So this is just to demonstrate the method to get to a result. You have to use real data from the entire site to make you project work properly. Hope this helps. 751877093_Terrainproblem.plan
