Crazy Tricky Roof

Hello, I am just wondering what in the world I can do to build this roof line correctly. I have a hover scan but no upstairs layout to help with the auto roof build. It is kicking my butt!

This will be fun.. and thanks for sharing.  This is quite the roof line, I lost count on how many roof planes and all the different pitches.  But to answer your question on not having a "upstairs layout", I don't think you need one.  The shell should get you what you need to start with.  By looking at this 39 page attachment, with measurements, pitches and photos, I would think you could do this.  Page 5 gives you all the wall dimensions.. draw that profile first. Create second floor by using the same profile from below, then adjust accordingly by using the pictures.  Page 9 gives you the soffit depths.  Pages 11-18 give elevation profiles and more dims.  On page 32 a more detailed roof layout with ridge and valley dims.  Lastly, all the pictures of this house can get you a good idea on how exterior walls align, for example over the garage.  It's a lot, but I think you got this, just do one step at a time.

 

Curious on what "Hoover" is and what they do?  I like this document BTW...

I had a real quick go at it you need to check accuracy but show how to get basic shape of roof it might be helpful.

Thank you so much for you feedback! Hover is an app that you use with a drone. You get the whole exterior of the house plan and it converts it to this information  @mtldesigns

Curious... did you take the pictures for hover? Are the footprint and window dimensions accurate?

I re uploaded that plan file it now has that gable window detail as a way to do it

Combination of Auto Roof Building and editing individual roof planes. Once you have established the base line external wall structure of course. We don’t do roof returns down this way so it is definitely complex. I can’t get my head to accept rise and run roof pitches, I much prefer degrees. I also think in metric. But if you have a DWG file for the base lines or you draw them out manually, you can get help along the way as you start to model it in 3D with CA. These guys here are a great source of help to all of us and will help you along the way.

@SH_Canada I do not personally take the drone footage. I think it is similar to all other systems you use in that there is a great deal of accuracy but I always double check
