The cabinet is not large enough.....

No matter how big I make the appliance opening in a full height cabinet, I get " the cabinet is not large enough.....".

I can add D/W & Microwaves to base cabinet, tall cabinet, but not a wall oven?  Anybody else have this issue?

EDIT: If I go to a camera view, click on the library appliance, then on the tall cabinet, it works fine, but still can't get it to work from the diag box. I think its a bug.

Some thoughts

  • What are the relative depths of the appliance and the cabinets?
  • What options are set for the appliance you are trying to insert?
  • X17 made some changes to how some appliances fit into cabinets.  It's possible one of the appliances in the library isn't compatible.  Is this one from your user library?  If so you might need to adjust the settings.

This has been an issue for many versions, just thought it would be fixed by now. ovens are from the core library

It only works from the dialog if you change the cabinet width and depth to 30" first.  After you add the wall oven, you can then change the depth back to 24" if you want.

@Gary-Doski @tpiendel You should probably report it to Chief if you ever want them to fix it.

Sorry guys, "Tpiendel" is our company account, not my personal account.

In regards to the double oven issue, DBCooper got it right, the depth is the issue. It would be a 30" width for most ovens anyway. I can make the width 40" and it will not work until I add the depth of at least 27" which is incorrect and should be fixed.

Interestingly, the other work around is to install the double oven in 3D view, Chief then has no problem with the 24" depth, go figure!!
