Hi Team Chief

Has anyone had the issue when creating custom tool bars in x16 that when in customize toolbars and you drag from tools to the plan file screen the tools do not stack into one toolbar but instead just create separate toolbars for each tool i drag over???

I am trying to make my own custom tool bar with multiple tools from the library items i have created over the years. i know how to place library button and create an icon but simply cant get them to stack. Thanks for looking

  • Frenchy1 changed the title to X16 Toolbar Stacking. I saw a video Rene did, but they will not stack like his video?

It's always been like trying to stick the same pole of two magnets together for me, but I thought the key was to stack them directly on top of each other to get them to join, but I can't get it to work now either. I may have changed a setting I don't know about though.

i replicated the settings on the working x13 version and it didn't allow me to stack? must be a bug

I am using the latest update (26.3), and it seems to be working fine for me.  I even tried it with the same tools you used in the first video (soffit and cad defaults) and it worked exactly how I expected it to.  Not sure why it wouldn't work the same for you but maybe it is related to some setting somewhere?

In my case I realized that you have to drag the tool directly from the toolbar customization window to whatever toolbar you want to add the tool to.

I was dragging the tool from the customization window to a random place on the screen first, then trying to add the tool to a toolbar. Doing this seems to create a new toolbar that can't be joined to an existing one. Adding to or creating a new toolbar still works fine now that I understand the behavior correctly.

kitchen.toolbarincase anyone else ever gets the issue import the kitchen.toolbar into chief C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X16 Data\Toolbars to get two columns that you can add whatever you want into a single toolbar 1423484767_Screenshot2024-10-27153009.thumb.png.634e120b6984ea1453473274617813fb.png

Frenchy that is my kitchen toolbar and a lot of people use my systems. My kitchen toolbar is scripted outside of chief in a very specific way to target specific links through the TBData file to specific PNG.'s I provide as well as library items. So using that would overwrite my work in the case that someone is using my systems. Juts a general FYI for you.
Also in your first video, you need to drag the tool on top of another tool and slightly to the right or left of it
