simonas
Hey pros, I know you guys leave ray tracing your renders overnight. My question: Is it possible to raytrace more than one render and leave them all overnight. So in the morning all your images done are nicely saved in the folder? Thanks! DavidJPotter
I think the longest I usually run Ray Traces is about 10 minutes. I haven't needed to try anything longer since the old "POV-Ray" days, my 10 minute ray traces look better than those old POV renders of version 9-10. If yours are taking longer than ten minutes or so, you have too many light sources turned on or your PC or Mac sucks wind. DJP
simonas
But is it possible to leave more renders in queue so when one is finished another starts automatically?
Dennis_Gavin
I don;t think you can que them up but I think you can do more than one at a time. Agree with David that usually with X6-7 max I do is about 30-45 minutes. Often less depending on what I am doing.
Solution HumbleChief Posted January 31, 2015 Solution Share Posted January 31, 2015 Yes you can have RayTraces in a queue and when one is finished the others will start, do it all the time. Try 3 or 4 RT's with a 2 or 3 pass limit and watch them RT one at a time till all of them are finished
Dennis_Gavin
yes, but what I meant is you can't set several scenes to ray trace as part of one session, right? You have to start them each individually.
Electromen
I start several and let them queque.
HumbleChief
Try it Dennis, will take 5 mins tops. I think it works fine but maybe I don't understand your question. You, of course, have to start them individually but they queue up fine and RT one after the other. Again maybe I don't understand what you're saying. In the morning you have all ray traces done sweet!
