SusanC
This is a new one. I keep getting this error message and can't close my plan. Has anyone seen this before? How to get rid of it short of a hard quit? Saving with a new name does not work. Thanks, Susan
Chopsaw
Check what it says in "Check Knowledge Base" I suspect it has something to do with File Locking but not sure. Preferences > General > File Management. File Locking: Choose whether or not to lock .plan and .layout files when they are open. File Locking prevents another program or copy of Chief Architect software from opening and modifying the same file at the same time and is recommended in nearly all circumstances. Select Use File Locking to lock files. Select Disable File Locking to disable this feature.
Chopsaw
Perhaps you have two instances of chief running and the file is open in both ?
Kbird1
It maybe a File Permissions Issue too? are you working off you local HDD or directly off a Cloud Account like iCloud or Dropbox? M.
DBCooper
Quote Saving with a new name does not work. Why not? Does trying to do a save as give you the same error or is it something else? Did you open up an auto save or backup file? Did you open a file up that is in some kind of special folder? One thing you might want to do is try is going into your file system and checking the properties of the file to make sure it is not set to read only. I know how to do this on windows and I assume apple has something similar but I don't know much about that. Also, you might want to try a reboot. SusanC
Thank you for the replies. All seems fine now. I always download files from Google Drive to my desktop to work on them, but this one time I was in a hurry and did not do that. Probably the cause. Was able to finally close the file with a hard quit. Opened the file again this morning and everything was fine. File was not set to read only. File was not a backup file or a special folder of any kind. Did reboot my computer after the hard quit. Thank you!
