capitaldesigns
I have a client that want to add a patio to the front of their house. The contractor did a mock up of the patio roof. The way they want to build it will require one of the beams supporting the roof to be at an angle. I'm not sure how to place the angled beam and how to get Chief to build the roof over the angled beam. The top of the roof will be level and built over the top of the existing roof. See pictures. Does anyone know how to model this type of roof ? Thanks, Mike
Chopsaw
Mike you might try creating a seam in the roof planes where the angled beam is and then auto frame may give you something close that you could work with. But hey, do they really need drawings ? It looks like they already have it figured out.

It's just a Shed Type Roof correct ? single slope? overframed on the old Roof, so build the Roof Plane 1st , then a Roof Beam should automatically follow the Slope of that plane. Mick. robdyck
@capitaldesigns A rafter can work nicely as an angled beam. It can be placed on the same layer as beams and included in a schedule of beams as well. Also a 3d molding works well, but the learning curve is more difficult.
