CA 8 Dongle ---(old school)

Hi there,

I'm 70 yo.

I have a version of CA 8 from 1994 I would like to use again.............tons of plans from my earlyarchitect days.

I LOST DONGLE HARDWARE LOCK  AND CA SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE THEM ANYOMRE!

Any suggestions/ideas?    Chief Architect??

The easiest recourse is to upgrade (duh!?) But that choice is the most expensive. You can see about purchasing a newer version (Beware of software Pirates!) You can buy Home Designer Professional for $495.00 but all of your Chief Architect V8 files must then be converted for use in Home Designer Software by a Chief User. You might offer Chief Inc some money to convert your V8 seat from a hardware lock to a password seat, costs nothing to ask.

someone with a ver 8 key could donate it for the cost of shipping

not allowed to sell them

 

the donor should work with CA to transfer the license to you

and to verify you have a valid license etc

 

or you could find ver 8 on Ebay and the seller should be willing to work with CA to verify it is a valid license

and to transfer it to yoo

first seat transfer is $50 (or was ?) - lesser seats can cost hundreds of dollars

 

if you buy a newer used version I would recommend X4 or later

 

CA also has a rent to own package

Before spending too much time and effort on finding a v.8 dongle, I would want to know if your computer operating system would even run that. You may well be wasting your time even trying to run that version.
