  1. Hello again - By the way, this is not John you have been talking to, I'm his wife, Evan. He knows a lot more about the technical aspects of drafting than I do. It is working now, I drug the upper wall down, converted to a pony wall so the material would show correctly. There was a gap between the two upper walls that would not meet for a long while, but is has now resolved - I'm not sure what I did to fix that. Thanks for tackling this with me!
  2. Well, I'm half the way there, thanks for your help! It worked to explode the tray ceiling. I am still trying to manipulate the staircase wall and drag it down. It wants to remain a siding wall.
  3. Just saw your new images, I will give it a try!
  4. The "Stop at Ceiling Above" did not work, I am trying to get my section view right to drag the wall down now. Thank you!
  5. Attached is the reduced size file. While I was deleting all of the plan extras, I discovered that the tray ceiling in the Dining room is related to the problem. When I delete the tray ceiling in the dining room, the upper portion of the wall generates correctly on the dining room side, but still does not generate by the invisible wall near the staircase. 6. Hello, yes there are attic walls in those locations, thank you. The camera view is turned on. My file size is too large to post.
  7. I found it, and yes invisible walls are displayed.
  8. Is that a camera setting or a wall setting? Under defaults? I am looking but can't see how to do this.
  9. How to I repair this the top portion of my wall when I raise the ceiling? There are invisible walls as room dividers between living/dining/kitcheRaised Ceiling Problem.pdfRaised Ceiling Problem.pdfn.
  10. What kind of laptop is it? Some may not be able to be upgraded.
  11. @ChopsawI have a email to the surveyor regarding that discrepancy in the survey. The Cad file they sent was a mess they had different parts of the lot lines on different layers. It took quite a bit of clean up to get where I had similar things on the same level.. It' disappointing that the imported polyline arcs will not connect and form a closed polyline that you are able to use to calculate the area.. Thanks for your help! @MarkMcMark thanks for the help!
  12. @MarkMc So you are saying select all the lines, change their color, then lock the layer and trace over them with the line and arc tools? @Chopsaw I was not too concerned with the labels. It appears to me that the lot coordinates are the reverse in chief from what the surveyor sent. What i was trying to accomplish was to determine the easiest way to calculate the flat work/drive way Area. I thought by using the original CAD file imported into Chief it might work but the person who did the drawing was not consistent in the layers they used.
  13. I cannot get the polylines for this Driveway flatwork layer to connect and create a closed polyline. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong? This is from a Cad file imported into Chief X13 from the surveyor. X13 Flatwork.plan
  14. You have a non default ceiling structure 16" and non default ceiling finish 18" on the first floor. Are those correct? They 12" and 11-3/4" in the default.
  15. Chief Architect plans and layouts often contain many references to other external files so it's necessary to copy all the associated files to a new location when a plan or layout is moved. A copy of your plan along with all of your textures and materials can be quickly and easily created by using the Backup Entire Plan/Project tool. @lbutteryYes Plans are not backward compatible! Very important Point ! You can use the Backup Entire Plan Tool to make a copy the plan and all of the associated files in X10. If you have a complete x10 back up saved you will have a version that you can go back and use if you have upgraded to X12 or X13 and develop or are concerned about any compatibility issues. You could reload X10 and that complete backup has you work saved for that version.
  16. You could also make a full backup copy of your plan and keep it as an x10 plan and upgrade the other to which ever version x12 or x13 you are trying out.
  17. Best if you post the plan for best responses but you might use a pony wall concrete on bottom framed with siding above
  18. Turn on the Fixtures and Moldings layes in 3d
  19. Watch This Video should help you. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10207/3d-viewer-creating-interactive-models-for-your-clients.html?playlist=171
  20. If understand correctly what you are doing is setting up your "pony wall wall assemblies" in your library to have a specific height for the lower section (bottom) of the pony wall? When you change ceiling height the top part of the pony wall assembly adjusts to the changed ceiling height. Once that lower wall height is set it does not change.
  21. I'm not sure how you're doing this because the only way I know how to set the wall height requires a room to be drawn and I believe the room height is pulled from the Default Settings for Floors and Rooms, Floor levels tab. You can also change wall height in the Room DBX Structure tab. You can draw a room with any one wall type and change the walls to 4 different types and the height of your walls will not change
