Catalog Folders

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to create a folder in bonus catalogs to group similar catalogs?  Right clicking does not give the option to add a New Folder.

i believe you have to copy to the User category first

then you can create folders there

I think ...

I'll give that a try Lew, thanks.

Be careful.  That method results in twice as much library data as you really need.  The catalogs copied to your user library will also no longer update when you run a Library Update.

I believe the intention was to use filters to find items and use your user library for items that you have built yourself or customized for your needs.

There isn't one.  What you described is really the closest thing but its problematic.

Michael:

thanks for the clarification

I remember something about making copies or making links to items

since the current library structure was introduced in X4 I have suggested that

the folder structure be the same as it is on the website

during X5 beta someone from CA said it was a great idea but to late for x5

Hmmm, X13 is coming and somehow I doubt it will be there :(

I add to the suggestion that there be a way to categorize the bonus and manufacturer libraries as they are on the website. I tried creating a folder in my User library with subfolders for each category, with just a list (not linked) of the catalogs that fit into that category, but it's a pain in the butt. I didn't want double links to entire catalogs, and I want to be able to update them. By the way, given there are a zillion cabinet catalogs, I only install the ones with representation in my region - why install ones that have no geographic presence where I live?
