Jones_Drafting 0 Posted Wednesday at 11:36 PM Hi, I'm working more remotely these days, and have had some guys help in gathering dimensions and property information. While I've become practiced in sketching out the layout of a typical 2000sf house, I guess it does take a little practice. Trying to make this process simpler, I'm looking to see whether anyone could suggest easy, straightforward software which will run on a tablet or i-pad, with which someone could easily draw walls, add windows and doors, pull dimensions....doesn't have to be fancy, just able to record accurate dimensions....thinking via touchscreen would be best.... Suggestions which don't require much of a learning curve? Thanks!
GeneDavis 134 Posted Wednesday at 11:39 PM Laptop with Chief on it works for me. Gotta be a pretty skanky building to not have a place to set it on.
Jones_Drafting 0 Posted Wednesday at 11:42 PM Heh...yep...I figured out a way to mount a table to the top of my camera tripod. Works great. People go, "Ooh!" too. Think I found something in magic plan for apple or android devices... Just downloaded it to give it a spin. Thanks!

Thanks! pretty sure magicplan will do it with a lidar scanner for the new iphones and ipads. But just like any scanning make sure you either take some key dimensions or use a second source like hover.to for backup information.
Ridge_Runner 126 Posted Thursday at 03:10 AM There was some discussion on this topic recently with some software/hardware suggestions. A quick search would probably bring it up.
Jambruins 0 Posted Thursday at 01:50 PM Has anyone used magicplan and got it to work? I downloaded and played around with it at my house and I can't get a floor plan anything close to my actual measurements.
