EngelsmaHomes 6 Posted December 11, 2020 Hi All, Is there a way to recess corner boards (similar to the recessing doors and windows to the sheathing layer) like you would do for James Hardie siding or similar? Thanks, Tom E.
Kbird1 822 Posted December 11, 2020 No, not automatically but it has been Requested as a Change I believe. M.
NRST8TRKR 28 Posted December 11, 2020 I set my Corner Boards at 1/4" thick. Looks closer to normal, not that much trouble. Have a great week end, Ken

I'll have to do this as a workaround - it's inaccurate in a plan view still though so I was wondering if there was a more correct way.
GeneDavis 142 Posted December 17, 2020 HardiePlank is 5/16" thick and laid up it's closer to 3/4" at max, so that's how I've set it in the wall build. We use cornerboard at 5/4 thickness (1") and since Chief places cornerboards ATOP the siding, I specify the CBs at 1/4". If you prefer a "flush" look then go with 1/16" over whatever you've set for siding, to avoid z-fighting. We won't do "flush" because it won't permit well-caulked joints where claps resolve into trim.

If you want it to show correctly in plan view use a p-solid with solid fill.
GeneDavis 142 Posted December 17, 2020 Trim's applied to sheathing not framing.
Chopsaw 658 Posted December 17, 2020 Thanks Gene, That was just a quick demo but I knew something seemed a bit off. See Revised.
