zowie123
Hi, I probably sprayed a new material on it thinking that would change the deck material, not add a layer. Maybe my concept of how materials work is not correct. Anyway, I can zero out deck planking, but I want my deck planking, how do I get rid of the layer on top of the planking? I can only seem to pick the room which isn't showing this material in materials. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Has anyone else come across this? Thank you, Barry
DavidJPotter
Framing, especially in this case Deck planking are individual 3D objects on their own named layer as opposed to a texturized material merely being applied to a flat surface, you build deck planking and apply a texture to those individual plank objects or do not build deck planking and apply a material to that flat surface). When you do both it looks a little confused, so choose one method or the other but not both is my advice. DJP
KilgoreTrout
Open the deck room. Go to the structure panel. Check out the floor finish and floor structure. You probably need to 0 out the floor finish.
ebdesign
Make sure the room TYPE is "Deck". w/ decks, you shouldn't get a floor finish layer- unless you changed the OOB Room/Deck defaults. That would be where I would start.
mgabriel
How about posting the plan so we can see what is going on. Without the plan, we are all guessing.

I don't know why thats a default in my deck rooms, but will have to go back and change my template to rid that surace--bad surface bad. Thank you very much for your help.
