Custom stained glass?

If I want to make a custom stained glass is there a certain technique to go about this. My thoughts are that I would open a new plan and make a pattern using a glass material. I would then give different pieces slightly different translucent colors to make my pattern. I would than add my leaded frame. These all would be made from p-solids. Once completed would I save it as a symbol or can I save it as a material? Is it possible to do what I'm trying to accomplish in CA and is this the correct way to go about it? Am I missing any important steps?

Sounds like you are on the correct path.  The only thing I might suggest is custom muntins for the lead rather than p-solids.

I would personally do it completely from scratch and forget the muntins .  Muntins are okay but are a bit limiting and less realistic than other equally quick options.  Plus, you're going to need to create your separate glass pieces anyway.  It's only a couple extra steps with boolean operations to model the lead caming.
