bnharch
CA is giving me the following warning messages when I try to save a plan. I can't save modifications to any plans, either new or existing. can anyone help me with this? Thanks
kMoquin
I'm guessing it is exactly what the warning is telling you - too many characters or invalid characters in the name. Try saving it with a different name.
bnharch
C drive has plenty of space and I shortened the file name but it still won't save. The warning message says the "File not found" Check the file name and try again".
kMoquin
Can you "Save As" ?
bnharch
No, I tried that already. I changed the name and tried to save but the same message. I created a new plan and tried to save it but got the same message. This issue is effecting every CA file I have.
Joe_Carrick
It appears to be the archive file that's the problem. The path is set in preferences so you may need to do a bit more checking. If all else fails, contact customer service.
bnharch
Thanks, I checked that and it appears ok. There was an auto-save of my current plan, but when I tried to save that plan under a different name I got the same warning message' FILE NOT FOUND"
lbuttery
check your file name for special characters etc only a few are allowed in file names https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/905231/information-about-the-characters-that-you-cannot-use-in-site-names--fo Contact CA's tech support they can advise best Lew
lbuttery
can you do a complete backup export ? if so, do that then close the plan using windows task manager to force close if necessary then close Chief and maybe even restart or reboot your PC then try again ??? your file name looks fairly long but I have bad eyes and can't read all the characters in it try a much shorter file name and save to the Pictures folder as your folder path structure may be too deep/long ??? Alaskan_Son
I would personally start by trying to save to a different location. Maybe to your desktop or directly to your documents folder and see what that does. Then try saving to a different drive...a USB maybe. Then go from there depending on the results. VHampton
Ditto on what Michael posted. It sounds as if Save As will not allow you to over-write the current file. PLAN A: Save that plan on your Desktop and see what happens. Then drag and drop it into wherever you keep the original. It should cancel out the former plan and get you back to all systems go. PLAN B: You can also do a Save as, and change the name of it if you have to. What this does is spawn a new Archive Folder. If you take a look at the archives, sometimes you'll see more than one archive folder for a given project... one for the layout and one for the plan. Ideally the "saves" for both the plan and layout should be ongoing inside the same folder. Sometimes things mysteriously get wonky, and deleting the entire archive folder solves everything. If you're nervous about this, don't worry... you can always find them in the trash if you ever needed them... assuming you don't empty your trash folder every month!
