Text string for SCALE is tied to Zoom? Why?

This is sure to be a "User Error".

Text String for Scale seems to be tied to the level of Zoom.

I sent a little Plan to a Layout Page at 3/8". I will be sending everything on this plan at different scales so page -0- I used the Insert %Scale% from the drop down. I was surprised that it wasn't 3/8" on page 1 but instead an unexpected result.

Is there a way to get the scale from "Send to Layout" on each page?

Cheryl,

If I understand you correctly.

You want the scale of the layout box to display for each layout box.

To do that you need to open the layout box dbx and use %box_scale%

Using %scale% in a text box on the layout sheet will display the visual zoom level for that layout page - probably not what you want.

%scale% is most useful once you print.  Once printed (to paper or PDF) it will correctly report either:

  • Your Drawing Scale if you place it directly into layout (this is almost always 1" = 1")
  • Your Layout View Scale if placed into plan view (1/4" = 1' or whatever scale you're using).  This is what most people are typically after.  You can get the same thing by using the %box_scale% macro but this requires using the actual layout box label which is not always ideal.
