SketchArchitect
I have the need for a certified engineer to put his/her stamp on a plan. If interested, please contact me via this thread regarding your fee for plan review/adjustments/ and certification of an addition above existing 2 car garage (residential). Thanks Much, Stuart Anthony Sketch | Design | Plan

lbuttery
Stuart: The builder and I bid on a similar project and to get the bid right I did some research on all the code items it takes to allow habitable space above a garage have you talked to the permit office about this project ? the code items that have to be dealt with are very extensive and costly the client choose not to proceed with the project due to the cost another point to consider- does the permit office allow for stamping of plans not created by the stamper ? some jurisdictions do - for others it is illegal to do so Lew

Usually not that big a deal in SE Wisconsin... But we shall see. I will talk to the GC about that info and see what we're looking at. Also thanks for the heads up regarding legal concerns. ~ Best Regards
BigKahuna
Here I use my structural engineer to just stamp the structural elements ( that I use him to size ) and there is no issue with that at least for residential
DRAWZILLA
I have been using an engineer for all my projects for 40 years now, no problem in California. He does do the markups and sizes and calc's including lateral . I just draw it all for him.- It's legal. He stamps his pages
RL-inc
I do as Perry does. I lay out all the framing pages and discuss how I see the structural details coming together and then my engineer goes through it all and sends back red-lines withe lateral and gravity info. I transpose the info and then he back checks. Stamped calc packet and submit.
