phil1322
Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever done a roof similar to this picture below, is it/would it be easy to achieve in Chief?? Phil
DRAWZILLA
I don't think you can do it automatically but ,yes ,I have done some of those
DavidJPotter
Easy is a rather subjective term, I have done mansard roofs but manually, I suppose you could get kinda-sorta close automatically with a lot of presetting but would then envolve some manual editing afterwards. lbuttery
David: a basic Mansard can be done with just a few settings for the auto-roof gen see the "styles" tab on the roofs dbx or the roof vidoes or help articles there are over 24 different roof styles and/or complex roofs that can be done with the auto roof gen CA recommends to start with auto then go manual if/as needed Lew
DRAWZILLA
Come on, Lew, really. The roof the OP wants is not the same as what chief has, manual for sure
ebdesign
This is automatic w/ the roof break to flat (actually 1/4" slope) defined in the walls. And a barrel dormer added too.
DRAWZILLA
Still not the same roof, looks like a parapet wall to roof
lbuttery
Perry: so what is different ??? Jim's solution looks like the OP's request to me ??? If not, I'm sure it could be tweaked manually just don't see a need to start manual and ignore the auto-gen have you tried the Mansard auto-gen settings ??? GerryT
Hmmm -- After all walls are drawn - Select all walls and open DBX -- Set Lower pitch as required (>12), upper pitch at 1/4" & setback from baseline. Build Roof -- Time less than a minute. Always start with the Auto.
ebdesign
You mean something like this Perry? I haven't drawn a manual roof plane in months...........maybe longer.
DRAWZILLA
Similar, except the parapet wall extends higher than the roof. I can never get the auto roofs to do what I need, I do start with auto roofs but must always fix them unless they are very simple.
