  1. If you select the dimension, you will see a small box on each of the dimension text. You can grab each one and move the text to wherever it makes sense.
  2. Just had a quick look...do yourself and your contractor a favor and even up your dimensions where possible. I don't believe contractors are very fond of fractions of inches unless warranted. I always try to lay out exterior walls in 2 ft. increments. Saves waste. And makes for a good layout. Also, it looks like you're dimensioning to the outside of the siding. I always dimension to the face of studs since that's how the contractor pulls the dimensions. Would love to see it when you've got the roof on. Good luck! Barb
  3. I use a plan file called "Details" with all my details in it. I save it to each client file in addition to the plan file that has the floor plan. That way I have access to all the details I might need.
  4. Michael - You should probable post this under "Seeking Services" Good luck!
  5. Thanks for the quick response. That does the trick, however I think it should work with a lintel. This will work for now. Barb
  6. Hi all I just started this plan, and slid a couple of windows into the corner. My trim on the interior and exterior is incomplete. What am I missing?? Thanks for looking. Barb windows.zip
  7. Chief Architect has been an awesome software to learn and use in my business. I've been on board since version 3.0, and it has helped me and my business to deliver amazing services to my clients. Thank you!
  8. I just took a quick look... Some of your walls are designated as "no room definition" Change that, and adjust your floor and ceiling heights to whatever you need. HTH Barb
  9. I just did this for a movie theater. I set the bottom height and the top height and used poly solids for the intermediate steps. You need to look at the viewing angle, screen size, center focus, etc....there are many things to take into consideration. Good luck... Barb theater section.pdf
  10. I use a custom set of hotkeys all the time. Saves many clicks. Customize it for whatever commands you use most often.
  11. Hi all I am getting ready to hire a drafter to help with my workload. I've always done everything myself. I'm wondering if anyone has a brief contract they use for this. Something that covers that my designs are my property and can not be reused or reproduced without my consent, and anything else that might be pertinent. Thanks for any help! Barb
  12. Thanks Perry - Casings and lintels are the same for all the components. And, it happens whether I use doors or windows for the sidelites. I've attached the "plan". It's just 4 walls with the doors & windows. Try blocking them either from the inside or the outside and see what happens. Thanks Barb blocked door-sidelites.zip
  13. I was hoping that this got fixed in X8, but NO. If you mull together a door and a couple of sidelites that have lintels, I still get a mess. If they don't have lintels, it's ok. Chief, please fix this! Barb
  14. Mine came in fine in X8 also. Thanks Dave!!
  15. Under the CAD dropdown, select current CAD layer. I don't think it can be done thru the "Active Layer Display" Barb
  16. Just did a restaurant. Except for the ones in the library I got all the symbols I needed from sketchup. Opening April 2, 2016
  17. you need to change the "cutoff angle" in the light data dbx for the fixture. You can play with this setting to get whatever effect you want. Barb
  18. not quite sure what you're asking but I'll take a stab at it. make the color of the boundary line white if you don't want to see it, or change the layer and give it whatever lineweight you want.
  19. Tech Support confirmed this is a bug and suggested making the lintels out of a moulding. They are looking into a fix for a future release. Thanks to tech for the quick response! Barb
