  1. I thought it was a new feature, or some decision made based on input from folks who might not agree with how I see things I trust you guys , have sent in no shortage of bug reports (and pilot errors).
  2. Want to torture me eh? the sound is bad-will try to improve if I ever get to it.
  3. Just double checked this-in X8- changed a few locate objects in the dimensions default-no change to annoset listed. Then changed layer for text-no change in annoset listed. Do the same in X9 and it becomes "using active defaults"-not even clear how it decides what that means since it doesn't use the default that was active before the change? or the edited version. In any case it is not the same behavior as in x8
  4. That I don't think is a video card issue? I get the same with a 980m which at the time I started using X9 was the most powerful mobile card available. It is annoying, I've almost gotten in the habit of immediately selecting the annoset I was in-went so far as to add a second instance of the annoset drop down to the bottom of my screen. The other issue I don't get so have no idea.
  5. As Barbara noted resize OR better move the counter away prior to placing the sink. You want to get the warning message that the sink was designed to insert into a cabinet -despite sink symbol options listing "inserts into a countertop" -it doesn't, If warning doesn't pop up the sink is connected to the cabinet.
  6. Change existing cabinet drawer to a false drawer and draw a polyline in the section view for your drawer box. Attached is a drawer box symbol if you really want 3D (dunno why) Really think about getting premier. I ended up with Interiors for a while and it ticked me off (had already spent the money elsewhere) Thankfully I had TurboCad for stuff like this but a big PIA. Finally if you are doing this to permit phone charging? If so take a look at these-made to go into a drawer and solves it all. https://www.hafele.com/us/en/product/24-slim-docking-drawer-for-24-cabinet-depth-with-2-x-outlets-and-2-x-usb-ports/000001090002516600030023/#SearchParameter=&@QueryTerm=drawer+outlet&FF.followSearch=9786&PageNumber=1&OriginalPageSize=12&Position=3&OrigPos=3&PDP=true Drawer box.calibz
  7. Not sure about home designer-in Chief: draw half wall, in plan break wall, in select one section of wall, open DBX and change railing height.
  8. Until Chief has them most all of GE is at the 3D warehouse
  9. I could swear I posted to this earlier?? must have hit the wrong button. Someone else had also? losing it In real life -too many to sort through, what brands are available to you? IN Chief-core library has some-search for "cross" (in X9)
  10. IF using X9 then Cabinet defaults, general tab PLUS have the door drawer layer on. IF not in X9 then no. Good idea to put version and computer information in your signature.
  11. Don't need to draw a polyline first. I use "build, trim, molding line" from the menu-actually I have it set with a shortcut key. Draw line (a little longer than needed to begin with so it's easier to grab) set height (which will be listed from the subfloor so add for that) then add molding (s) bring the line back to the corner you want it to meet. To add to it just grab the DIAMOND node at the end to start a new segment. I use back clipped sections because it is easier to see the in out of the moldings in the stack, also use that to make a cad detail to dimension when done and send to layout.
  12. What are you using that for? I ask because it looks as if you would be better off using a molding line instead of a 3D polyline or a molding polyline. IF your moldings are all relative to a single horizontal plane DON'T use a 3D line. Does this do what you need? A standard molding line will show the width of your total profile in plan. To adjust the heights of stacked molding take a back clipped section through the molding. The moldings don't update live while the DBX is open but a lot easier than hit or miss.
  13. This was some time ago-pre using Chief. Mud Room/Pantry-service for 19 rescued Jack Russells. We looked at toe kick feeders-dropped the idea partly because the dogs sizes (and health-blind, cancer, lame, short, tall...sweet and mean varied too much. Ended up with little stools that held bowls. Used a Rev-A-Shelf pegboard pullout for leashes, forget what we put int the one on the other side. Food went into plastic bins in drawers-note labels on counter are dog names that coincide with drawer for each ones food and medication needs. Was a doggie bath and shower around the corner from the cages. The more modest mud room accommodations for humans aren't shown across aisle to the right of the cages.
  14. The kitchen guy would do it with cabinets far one is cabinet only-near has psolids at corners. Still need a bottom and a vane.
  15. Here's a test-individual files printed from CA plan file (not layout) using the CA printer. Transparent circle and variations (think I can get a gallery to show?) Merged with Bluebeam PDF Revu Think I had it at 600 dpi. Appears pretty good to me. Printing to BB with transparency has the issues noted-from what I can tell not adequate control over anti-aliasing or image type (defaults to jpeg) I have no idea why merging is better. Hope it still looks good once uploaded. ca 3.pdf
  16. Not at computer so from memory (feeble) Make cabinet -3/4" deep, full overlay, separations "0", reveal "0", toe "0" depth and height. Cabinet material as opening no material. Adjust cabinet to size you want door. When placing bury the cabinet box (3/4") into whatever the door is applied to (use point to point or transform replicate) Will read correct size in schedule, look right in 3D, and change with the cabinet default door. If the extra 3/4" bothers you in plan view, place on a separate layer and change base cabinet lines to white, don't change door layer line. Turn off that layer when pulling dimensions to avoid extra snaps.
  17. Might try run as administrator. Shouldn't need to but odd it's persting in memory. Ran into that on another program once. Something to try til Monday anyway. Machine has enough juice. Also shouldn't matter but can turn shadows off in defaults. I made it a keyboard shortcut back in 8 as well.
  18. What Joe said. Been running x9 since first beta on both machines listed in signature. The 9150 has just a tad more juice than you list-not enough to make a difference. Had an issue when first installed the beta which was specifying X9 to use the NVidia card. But not sure what could be up with not getting CA to close unless it is related. No problem here with that. I can't agree that X9 is not ready. I did get a couple of error messages yesterday on the 9778 - may have been pushing things - 4 plans (28 mb ea), layout, 6 cad details, 5 elevations, 3 perspectives, Firefox 4 tabs, Edge (Honda Classic Stream), PIM, Directory Opus, 2 Win Explorer, Bluebeam w/4 files -all open using 3 screens. I put it off to the specific plans, all derivative of one that's had an occasional issue in the past, created 7/15 .Closed CA, reopened and all was fine-no loss.
  19. I think the couch is the problem and that symbol isn't uploaded. There are some free mesh reducers out there. I used one once on some furniture-have to experiment to find a balance between faces and looks. Don't remember which I used-not loaded on this machine-might have been meshlab.
  20. Thanks Jon, was hoping, just yesterday I was thinking of trying to dig up your stuff on the old forum about post production. (you wouldn't have a link would you?) Hijack anytime-I'm not proud
  21. You mean the Boxx for that right? I configured a Sager to match for $2700-2900. FWIW Dual GPU 1070's puts it at 3100. Getting stupid with it-4k, dual 1080s, two 1TB SSD, 32 gb a mere $5500 OP was looking for a 15" in which case similar build Is about $2400.
  22. Not sure if vid is up yet. Meeting went a bit long and at times through the woods. I've promised to bite the bullet and do a vid or two once the macros are done. Thought that was going to be this week but just got buried for a bit again. Hey if I manage to get to Providence I'll do it live for ya (VBG) What I have in mind out of what was in the meeting- macro labels and the replace from library (should be short) OIP and schedule with schedule to online order, and schedule to spreadsheet order using drag and drop for either. Likely will include a method to shorten looking up pricing for spreadsheet orders. Then schedule to 2020 item list for order (but it looks like I have to send the machine with 2020 in for service and refuse to put 2020 on this one so may take a while) An abbreviated-annosets the way I use them for kitchens - focus on dimensions, easing work, set up for cabinet detail, and layout views. Cheryl- once you get labels in Chief that match your brands nomenclature (via macro), and mod codes into the OIP (hence into a schedule) THEN-you can copy the schedule, paste into a spreadsheet (or word process) and copy each into the item list in 2020. Note that 2020 does not allow drag and drop of text so it must be copy paste. I'm writing 2 and maybe 3 macros. The first one is the worst and least likely to match other brands easily but it's where I started. My hope is that the other two might be easy to adapt to specific brands since they are more like what is out there (may end up also doing a Wood-Mode macro since I'm transitioning into doing just drawings and potentially have one client for that). IF they are too difficult to convert to another brand there are always the macro/ruby folks who can do that for a fee. (I'm not that good at it so no).
  23. Sure looks like a Clevo to me? Just for grins a comparable Sager can match the specs (maybe not VR? can't tell) for a grand less (first link)-in the same budget you can get dual 1070's (second link looks to be the same Clevo model?) http://www.sagernotebook.com/customize.php?productid=1056 http://www.sagernotebook.com/customize.php?productid=1234
  24. I just downloaded it to check-seams ok.
  25. Only if you use the blender option (paint roller) using the material painter places the color. I checked the color from the BM catalog and it is fine OOB, so not an X9 thing. Must be some other cause for the transparency.
